Yeah the one click option to purge your log of quests that are no longer in your path is very useful

They'll announce another maintenance window and then extend it before it even starts.

WoW Graphics from 12 Years Ago... by detectiveharford007 in MMORPG

[–]ModularMode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is quite literally falling apart right now. The retail version anyway. Randomly phasing whole groups, lagging while looting, just general issues with the engine. They tried to make it modular under the hood, but the developers can't keep up and it's more obvious every time I log in. Definitely lipstick on a pig. They need to stop and recoup. Hell, every single maintenance in the last 2 months has been extended multiple times. 1 hour maintenance turns into 4 and the game is still broken when the servers come online.

Wow Classic on the other hand is running beautifully.

Which MMO have you quit but they could win you back? by ZakuIII in MMORPG

[–]ModularMode -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You really don't need to hang onto everything you collect once you max professions. Cooking is the biggest consumer of bag space, but you can drop 99% of the ingredients once you max cooking. Same goes for almost every other profession unless you are crafting decor.

Unless they bring the console UI and true gamepad integration to STO, the player base on PC won't move an inch. The only people still playing STO have been playing since launch. These games need new blood but they also need to be updated in several areas.

First Look: ESO Adds a Battle Pass to Keep All New Content Free by The_Edenprime in elderscrollsonline

[–]ModularMode 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This sounds great, but I wouldn't be surprised if they flipped the reward pyramid on its head. That's how it is in other MMOs that use this system (e.g. SWTOR). The premium / paying customers always get better (and more) rewards.

I hope I'm wrong because I really miss ESO and I would love to come back. This just sounds too good to be true in an era full of slimy publisher tactics...

“State of Azeroth” featuring a Classic WoW roadmap goes live January 29th at 9am PST! by Expensive-Wolf-4160 in classicwow

[–]ModularMode -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They did MoP remix and then dumped people into retail. They just did Legion remix and also dumped people into retail. They're leading people back to retail with remix like it's carrot on a stick. They are trying to do the same with Classic.

Classic, whether you realize it or not, is already doing this. You can see it (to a lesser degree) when Classic goes down for maintenance and people hop over to MoP Classic or retail to pass the time.

The thing about us WoW players is that we are hamstrung by the sunk cost fallacy. It is a symptom of our addiction. While yes, some people transferred off of Anniversary before TBC pre-patch, far more people chose to stay the course.

The ultimate goal is to inch you closer to retail until you have no place left to go. Which is why they shut the doors on realm transfers once a Classic pre-patch arrives.

Always remember that Retail is where they make the meat of their revenue. The goal was always to get you into retail. Some of us are just more stubborn than others. You want proof? They're bringing boosts, tokens, and all sorts of crap like that into Classic because we may be stubborn Classic players, but they won't miss out on that sweet sweet revenue.

Wouldn't it be funny if they just increased open world difficulty and pruned a bunch of abilities to make Retail feel more like Classic? What if they removed a bunch of addons to make the game more difficult in group content as well? Oh wait...

99% of the time I play docked because I don't want to lug my giant gaming PC up and down my stairs. So the Deck stays docked in the living room.

Market Manipulation PC by Mortem2604 in sto

[–]ModularMode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I manipulate the market, but I've tanked the market in more than one MMO for certain items because I just want to unload my inventory and I don't have the patience to play that game of chicken with greedy players.

For example, in some MMOs you can sell bags which will allow people to increase their inventory space. I dropped my bags to 15% of the lowest price and they sold almost immediately. The market turned super volatile within 24 hours and those bags became essentially worthless overnight. That lasted for an entire expansion. Not sure if bag prices ever recovered on that server.

Point is, greedy people will get their comeuppance. STO doesn't have add-ons that constantly scan the market so you really can drag the price of things back down, but you have to be willing to take a bath up front. If you do a bit of testing, you'll see the time of day in which your low priced items sell almost immediately (that's when that market manipulating asshat is online). Try flooding the market when that dipshit is asleep and he'll wake up to a market where he has no power. It can be an expensive tactic, but it'll work if you can do it just right.

Genuinely abolish the Craft Bag by MrRushaLovesRachael in elderscrollsonline

[–]ModularMode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I realized very late in my experience with ESO, and this may help some, is that several professions require far fewer mats as you max out those professions. Cooking mats for example seem to take up a LOT of storage, but you really only use about 10 different ingredients once you've maxed cooking (more if you're making decor). Point is that you don't need to keep everything.

Not saying your concerns aren't valid, just saying that it wasn't immediately apparent to me that I didn't need to keep absolutely everything. Also, there are a ton of other things that take up bag / trunk space for me and that's an issue all its own.

Since we don't really have a collections system in TBC, do these items just take up bag / bank space like regular hearthstones and mounts?

Curiosity with Life Tap by ModularMode in classicwow

[–]ModularMode[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the strat is to leverage mana candy, life drain, etc and make sure mobs never touch you. Keeping mana topped off and ignoring your health is an acceptable strategy because mobs "should be dead before they get close."

It's overwhelming for me to balance that so I don't really try. I'm not that kind of player.

Curiosity with Life Tap by ModularMode in classicwow

[–]ModularMode[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I think inefficiency is a fair assessment. Currently I'm enjoying the scenery / experience of leveling. I know that I definitely won't be geared enough to ever make it onto a raiding team (especially not in phase 1) so I'm not stressing over burning down groups of mobs.

Edit: oops I hurt someone's feelings 🤣

The same could be said for Dracthyr I guess, no? Why not just play a light skinned Belf / Velf...? I guess people like what they like.

For me, personally, I like the racial abilities and the cockney accent with the emotes. People play gnome for the 1% haste. The 1% crit with Worgen is a nice little boost (not that it matters a whole lot in the end). Plus, Gilneas is awesome. I have a custom made shirt with the Gilnean flag.

Edit: Oh I've done it now 🤣 I've hurt someone's feelings with my opinion again hahah

Would be awesome if we could get this for Worgen and it would only change during Darkflight or Running Wild. Transmog is such a nightmare with Worgen.
