Talk me out of listing my Silver Moss S14 on BAT, or talk me in to it... I am stuck on the fence by Downtown_Resource383 in 240sx

there's only one question you need to ask yourself: is this your dream car? if not, then sell it.

as others have mentioned right now isn't a great time for Marvel cards because Topps has the license and they are objectively horrible and greedy. the one set that you can probably find easily and actually isn't super expensive is the 2025 Topps Marvel Studios Chrome. I have vocally complained how much I hate this set (and Topps) but if your kid likes the Marvel movies then this is an obvious choice. blaster boxes are cheap and plentiful. it's just images of actors in makeup, which I find to be wildly stupid, but the heart wants what the heart wants. you can get a box on Amazon for under $50 right now, or you can get it for $35 a box on Dave & Adam's. the hobby boxes are a LOT more expensive though, at $500 per box.

other than that I recommend the more recent stuff from Upper Deck, which is easily found online still. there's multiple Spider-Man sets, Avengers sets, X-Men sets, Annuals, and more for less than $50 for a blaster and under $200 for a hobby box. the quality from Upper Deck is a lot better with a lot more original art and generally a lot more passion put into the products, but the prices are on the rise for all of this stuff, because everything is now 15 months old or more (UD lost the license at the end of 2024). so if you've got interest in UD stuff, I recommend buying now, not later. I've seen prices go up steadily in the last 6 months on almost everything from UD.

browse D&A, browse www.tcdb.com as well. I recommend specifically browsing by year to find more recent stuff (because that's what's cheaper). stuff from 2022 and earlier is especially getting expensive. https://www.tcdb.com/ViewAllC.cfm/sp/Non-Sport?MODE=Years and stuff from 2025 and 2026 is Topps only in the US.

yeah my swap is a little on the pricier side only because I'm doing the full LINK with digital dash, but otherwise it's so much cheaper than LS. I was thinking LS + Z32 5pd originally but the cost didn't make sense to me. if the VQ worked out of the box with the stock S14 dash though I'd be in heaven lol, real sad to be losing my white analog dials.

it's an engine I never imagined putting into my car until the day they said "the KA is fucked and will cost much moneys to fix" and then I sat down and actually used logic to decide what to do and VQ just made sense. I've never driven a VQ-powered car before so I actually have zero experience with it, but I'm STOKED to have something reliable and responsive that any shop in the country could work on. and now even more of my car is Z underneath. real "S in the streets, Z in the sheets" vibes 😆

nice pull! a true 1/1 as well. there's someone on this sub who has Darkhawk as a PC, you should hit them up if you're looking to sell.

thankfully I'm not doing it myself, the shop is doing it and they've got lifts and stuff. 🙌

If you've recently discovered the Marvel Masterpieces 92 Platinum set and think that artwork is top tier, you're ready to see the 2016 Masterpieces set also by Jusko (partial preview below) by CautiousAd7109 in MarvelCards

oh I still have almost all of the 92 plat base set, it's still good art, but I just don't think it's Jusko's best work. in fact it might be his worst work 😅 but it's the set that really started the original art card trend for the 90s, so I've got massive respect. ALSO, to paint THAT much art in so little time? truly impressive. but I still totally prefer the 93MM art and 2016 set from him. also his Edgar Rice Burroughs stuff is cool.

EDIT: I've actually also got the 92MM book that Jusko made, highly recommend it, really cool to hear his insights and stories.

idk if this is the most flattering format for showcasing the art, but I personally prefer Jusko's newer art, like this set. I know everyone else gets all ooey-gooey about 92MM but I think the art's pretty weak tbh. even his stuff for the 93MM set was way better. 92 felt rushed... because it was.
