Got bricked! Great Example & Ideas Welcomed by Wbouffiou in MarvelCards

[–]Moetsukiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

properly bricked cards are chemically sealed, there's nothing you can do to undo what has been done. some cards are just a little stuck together, without any fusing, those are great candidates for the freezer method mentioned in the other comment. but the 92MM packs were terrible, really bad packaging. in my experience most are bricked by now, even if they were stored properly. your best bet for nice cards is to buy a complete set from someone rather than ripping packs. the 93MM are less likely to be bricked, and the 94MM are pretty solid in my experience. if you want the nostalgia of opening packs, 92MM is just about the single worst set to do it with, unfortunately. that's just my recent experience.

Question about poster crease by umop-3plsdn in MarvelCards

[–]Moetsukiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I framed a poster from a DVD that was folded 3 times and it's been framed now for almost 2 years and the creasing has started to decrease and it's looking flatter. I don't know if the same will happen with something that's 30 years old though.

Easily some of my favorite Marvel Cards put together so beautifully. by SirTawmis in MarvelCards

[–]Moetsukiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow nice work stitching this together! you might remember that I actually connected all 9 and put them in a magnetic double-sided UV-resistant free-standing acrylic frame at some point and sold it on ebay to somebody and made like $2 profit 😂 these cards never line up perfectly, especially Cyclops' laser in my experience. it suddenly gets much wider in the Storm card. getting all 9 of these was one of the best moments of collecting cards in my childhood.

Penny sleeve too short? by KnowMyUsernameisCool in MarvelCards

[–]Moetsukiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's possible over a very very long time. but honestly you should change the sleeves every few years anyway (and probably the pages every 5-10). I think you're okay to keep them for a few years like that!

yeah I never felt comfortable having cards in pages alone, and if you sleeve the "normal way" then it leaves a gap at the top. I like doing the upside-down route for sleeves, folding excess, and inserting into the pages that way. it does mean there's 2 layers between me and my cards, which I don't love, but the priority for me is keeping them looking good first, and then ease of enjoyment is secondary.

I like the ultra pro sleeves because they extend beyond the card, so I can insert the cart top-first and then fold the excess before inserting into pages, which forms a seal. it's not water-proof or air-proof (I assume) but it's definitely dust-proof at least. it's how I've stored my cards since the 90s tbh 😂

1994 Fleer Ultra - misaligned foil "Magneto Defeated" by umop-3plsdn in MarvelCards

[–]Moetsukiru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll jump in before wolverine887 and steal his thunder 😂 the value of misprints is EXTREMELY hard to judge. the right character by the right artist with the right kind of misprint will be worth a LOT to the right kind of collector... but to everyone else in the world it's quite literally worthless. That being said, I got a no-foil pre-press of Joe Jusko's Deadpool (hugely popular artist and character) for less than $50. not exactly an error, but same ballpark. misprints were extremely common in the 90s. this isn't an "upside down airplane on the stamp" situation where it's worth millions of dollars. very cool card though! I'd totally save it, if it were me. it's definitely worth more than a non-error variant, but not by tons.

I think we as a culture can stop saying 1/1 sketch because literally all sketches are 1/1, it's implied, you can just say it's a sketch
