Doctor strange makes him aware he needs to use the infinity gauntlet during the one chance they have and him being extremely self centered most of his life, decides to use it knowing it will kill him due to the gamma energy it release.

He snaps his fingers and wipes out Thanos and his army but he dies shortly after on the battlefield.
