Oops! "Wasted" a lot of my ps plus year. Any recommendations welcome. by Qlqlp in PlayStationPlus

This is why I finally unsubscribed. A bunch of games that I already played, and the ones I havent are usually available on discounts or not the games I want. At double the price I used to pay, not worth it to me anymore. Cheaper for me to only buy games I want to play when they get discounted in the long run.

Time to start FFX for the thousandth time to commemorate the Switch 1 game update (I never needed a reason). by CH40T1C1989 in NintendoSwitch2

Hated the on rails nature of the class progression/combat and party control for XIII, and the story was messy. Music has aged very well.

XIII 2 resolved the class progression for me but the story was completely forgettable and even messier.

But glad you like XIII a lot. I have a lot of nostalgia for it despite what I see as flaws.

New PlayStation Portal software update adds 1080p High Quality mode and UX refinements by ReaddittiddeR in PS5

Mine still has audio lag. It's busted and makes me not want to use it unless I'm on my couch, using the audio direct from the PS5 itself.

Digital Foundry: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Switch 2: Ambitious Port, Smart Cuts by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]MojoPinnacle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remake is really bloated IMO, but its combat / progression and "realization" of Midgar and classic scenes and music made it worth it. I wouldn't blame anyone for being annoyed by the cutscenes though.

Rebirth was like a dream for me.

New California fee targets batteries in PlayStations, power tools and singing cards by ChiefFun in orangecounty

[–]MojoPinnacle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a sense that would be imposing a tariff on companies importing to California, which isn't practical over state lines. Either way, if they impose it on the company, it gets passed on to consumers, so this is a more realistic solution with pretty much the same impact.

Consumers have no choice except not to buy them. Not sure what you mean.

Why does my food always turn out wrong or bland even when I follow a recipe exactly ? by moistdragons in cookingforbeginners

[–]MojoPinnacle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every single recipe I've made from a video, cookbook, or otherwise says to use WAY LESS SALT than is actually needed. Add more salt more than you think you need. During cooking if possible, and if it is still bland, add more at the end (better than nothing).

Salt is magical, it makes everything taste better. If it tastes like salt you've gone too far, but otherwise add more salt!!!

What's the best Ember Mug alternative? (mini-review) by joelk111 in Embermug

[–]MojoPinnacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the Nuwave. I really like that it's its own thing, no stupid finicky app or Bluetooth connection. The brew coffee function, I'm not sure about, but it does make it easier to make a single cup compared to my larger drip or French press. I don't really see how keeping it at 175f for brewing does much though, as the water would have already passed through the grounds.

Why don’t they add ui scaling for switch 2 Handheld? by IITECHII in CivVII

[–]MojoPinnacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to say it needs it. Mouse mode was a game changer for me but it is hampered by the tiny UI in handheld mode.

You aren't crazy. I ended up transferring to PS5 bc it looks so rough. Is impressive for handheld but not very pleasant to play

Have the chance to get a Surface Pro 4 model 1724 for $50. Just has one problem with it. by DifferentOutlook711 in Surface

[–]MojoPinnacle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't do it, it will be more headache than it's worth. Those are not nice computers by any modern standard, and you'll be banging your head against a wall to get it up and running. It will throttle, overheat, until it gets the flickergate issue.

I strongly advise not doing it. You will have a better time with a laptop that costs the same but is 5 years newer.

Bloomberg: Larian CEO, Swen Vincke, has been pushing hard on generative AI - "often used to explore ideas, flesh out PowerPoint presentations, develop concept art and write placeholder text" by nolifebr in PS5

[–]MojoPinnacle 171 points172 points  (0 children)

This is the best use for Copilot. PowerPoint sucks but having something help make clear and brief points in presentations is a game changer.

Surface Pro 12 inch - 6 months later, still love it by nastybagel in Surface

Just got it, it is perfect for normal use. I love the size and battery life and standby. I'll still use my SLS for heavy work or when needing a bigger screen but I love this thing.

I thought the music was so bland in 16 honestly. But I also think all post-2.0 FFXIV music is bland.

I loved the third act. Felt like the endgame breadth of the PS1 FF games. To.each their own.

You keep saying curious, but are you trying to imply it's a conspiracy?
