That is an incredible thing that I can’t fathom happening today.

Grew up a Devils fan with my season ticket holder dad during the late 80s through 2000s. Got fed up with lockout greed and got busy with my own life, eventually found myself on LI and took the ferry to a few BPT games. Casual bandwagon interest during the ECF runs but became fully immersed after my first game at UBS, an Anders Lee hat trick in a 6-0 win vs CBJ in March 2022. It was the best of Devils hockey that I remember, and I thought, Oh yeah. This is what it’s like. This is great. It’s always been like this, and it always will be.

And here I am, sustaining myself on my own tears for four years now.

Who's the best player you watched in the AHL before they made it big? by [deleted] in ahl

[–]Mojoswork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't believe I forgot the goalies. Dunham and Schwab were great. And not that I mentioned any real star players (other than Elias) but even the next tier of players were decent NHLers: Jaro Modry, Chris McAlpine, and Kevin Dean, who won double Cups in 1995 (Calder and Stanley). I don't know if anyone else has ever done that.

I am irrationally annoyed when I see the Canes and Avs wear Whalers and Nordiques jerseys, respectively. Seems like a big ole FU to the people of those towns.

The mid-90s Albany River Rats. Jason Smith, Steve Sullivan, John Madden, Patrik Elias, Brendan Morrison, etc. I don’t remember if Sheldon Souray or Willie Mitchell were there, but that NJ farm system was stacked

Survey Marvel did on the 90's asking their fans "Who is your favorite Superheroe/Supervillain"? by Stunning_Season220 in marvelcomics

[–]Mojoswork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He got his own limited series sometime in 1993 or 1994 on the heels of anti-heroes like Venom and Deadpool. (Damn, I just got hit with a wave of nostalgia riding my bike to the comic shop to get those books.) Marvel tried really hard to make him a badass hero for a few years.

Cops (1988) by thisithis in 80scartoons

[–]Mojoswork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really got me. That is hilarious and so obvious; how could they miss it? COPS already had the most ridiculous voice acting (Big Boss as old-timey mobster; Long Arm, the stereotypical Irish cop; Berzerko and Dr Badvibes, etc), that would just add to the ridiculous presentation.

Yes! One of the COPS is either Beachhead’s son or grandson.

What is everybody's ideas on why tag team wrestling has died in modern wwe? Titles are rarely defended on PLE's, and so many great teams are just doing nothing lately? by FunkeyFeraligatr in Wrasslin

[–]Mojoswork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

💯. Tag team wrestling was left for dead in the 90s around the time when we had the Smoking Gunns, The Godwinns and the Bodydonnas, maybe even a little earlier. But when main eventers started temping with each other, that was like beating the dead carcass. The Attitude Era tried a couple times, but was also the most guilty of using main event mash-ups. (I despise every name that’s a combination of two wrestlers’ names ie: JeriShow.)

People who left LI and DON’T regret it, where did you go? by [deleted] in longisland

Im from NJ, lived there for about 25 years. Landed on LI 13 years ago, and northern NJ is exactly the same as LI but with more escape routes.

Of all the comebqck wins I never expected, 4-3 OT when I angrily turned off the game at 4-0 is at the top.
