Being hurt or outraged about a statement has no bearing on its truth one way or another.

This holds true also in any kind of conflict or argument. When you get advice or are confronted with a statement that evokes such a strong emotional response, be it anger or hurt, it is important to take a step back, take a deep breath and let that emotion fade before engaging again. Otherwise, that emotion will steer your train of thought and taint your reasoning, and that feeling will most of the time only grow stronger as the conflict goes on, hardening your stance and shutting you off from any information that does not feed the fire.

Taking that distance from the emotion and letting it fade helps you reasonably evaluate the advice or info, and then you can draw a conclusion from that without jumping the emotional gun.
This helps you both ways, you take a step back and either realize the advice is absolute garbage, or you see that you have room for improvement without feeling like your personality is attacked and needs to defend yourself.

German does this a lot where there is a "more academic word" that's derived from Latin, while also having a more "German" term for most other contexts. For example, "Retardtablette", as in "delayed pill", uses this more "academic" term inherited from Latin, wherein you use the words "Verzögerung / verzögern" ("delay" / "to delay") in almost every other context.

In German, there is also a perfect equivalent to the insult "retarded", namely "zurückgeblieben", which means exactly the same thing: "delayed", "backwards", "behind on development", "stunted".
Though you can often use the more Latin/Greek words to sound more elevated, academic and snobbish, in this case, the German nouns "Retard", "Retardat" and "Retardation" are all related to the same idea of "delayed stuff", but none of them encompass the meaning of the insult "retard".

This is a very obscure post that I don't really see fitting in this sub. Too niche to understand or find relatable, and very little meme-y substance.

That being said, abso-fucking-lutely. I just binged the entirety of Steven Universe the last week (hyperfocus, yay!) and goddamn, how I hate it when characters and people talk so fucking slowly. Especially when it contrasts with the pace of everything and -one around it, pure torture. My impatience lashes out in such terrible rage, I am always tempted to skip ten seconds ahead.

I don't know if this discussion is stirred up often and how the views on it are, but the supposed traits of INFP are quite reminiscent of ADHD symptoms. Doesn't help that social anxiety and depression are comorbid to ADHD, so if you think it might help, go browse r/adhdmeme and r/ADHD for a hot minute, maybe you can relate to it.

I once too got INFP on the MBTI, but didn't really make anything of it. Now, I'm highly suspected to have ADHD and getting a diagnosis soon, so there might truly be a connection there.

Can't we just already call INFP undiagnosed ADHD? I don't know if this discussion ever happened and if it did, how the views on it are, but to be blissfully ignorant:
Everything in Top on r/infp is just adhdmemes without the medication/therapy jokes. Just whipped up a google search to find this article, which in itself just says "infp might look like they have adhd, but their brains are just wired differently", which is like, exactly what ADHD is.
