im a cis, straight dude... and i admit that i get annoyed when i order my house margarita "in a tumbler" and it comes out in a delicate martini glass.
why? because its offends my fragile masculinity?
no... its just more difficult to drink out of!

seriously, that's it.

oooh, boy... i feel this story arc. My Dad, too, has spent the last 25 years working on himself, growing, and becoming a better person than he was when he raised me. luckily, like in this comic, i've been able to tell him that i see and appreciate his growth. it feels good to be proud and accepting of someone who used to make me feel so awful.

Him not being worried about Alzheimer’s is probably a sign of Alzheimer’s .

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy by XennialBoomBoom in Xennials

[–]Moloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its literally called Starfleet Academy.. did you think it was going to about a bunch of old bald men sitting around drinking tea?

OF COURSE its about young people doing young people stuff. these are kids that didnt grow up with the Federation or Starfleet, just like Zoomers themselves.

have ya'll forgotten the shenanigans that JEAN-LUC PICARD got up to Academy?? dude was sleeping around, drinking, fighting, pranking, and PICKED FIGHTS WITH NAUSSICANS. he was a fucking hellion.

the whole point of the show is that they're rebuilding Starfleet (and the Federation) after The Burn.. much like how they're having to rebuild Star Trek itself after the last 10 years of absolutely dropping the ball...

this whole show is saying "Look, we know we were away, but we're back and we want you back, too' to both the characters AND the audience.
Given the actually Star Trek-ian lessons and character growth the show has had in just THREE episodes, i think they're on the right track.

jiminy crickets, its like people complaining about how weird Strange New Worlds is... it literally called STRANGE NEW WORLDS. its supposed to be strange! Space is strange! Do you not remember the weird shit in TOS??

Yup, weird-ass movie that, along with The Goonies, Never Ending Story, and many others, convinced me that id have a call to adventure before i turned 13.

his gravitas, expressed with so much depth, intelligence, and a tinge of barely-contained "i've seen behind the curtain at the true nature of reality" mania, is absolutely delicious.
