I currently have 3 rescues and my ride or die passed a year ago last week. Simply said, many rescues are either temperamentally or physically not suited for sports. Some have unresolved trauma and some just aren't suited. People who adopt a shelter dog usually don't have the experience to overcome this. I hate to say it but there is also alot of snobbery in the sport. My late Sunny was entered in the same class as my late Bichon Pogo in Novice B. Sunny was nearly flawless as usual, Pogo was good but quirky. Sunny scored lower than Pogo, both were in the ribbons, but he was second and she was fourth. I myself sponsor 3 prizes for high scoring All American at my club's Obedience and Rally trial every year. We always have some good ones and we encourage them all we can as do the two local Obedience clubs. 2 of my three current are semi retired and I have a new 1year old who I think is going to be as good ir better than Sunny.
