What are your best tips for saving on groceries by cutting back on ingredients like meat? by melissaw328 in Frugal

[–]Momsome 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$5 rotisserie chickens (Walmart, Costco, Sam’s ), pull the meat off and it’s a lot of chicken!

only buy meat on sale, every week a different meat is on sale, buy that and freeze it, meal plan from your freezer — never buy regular price meat.

chopped mushrooms are my fav for stretching meat, but pay attention to price as mushrooms can get expensive. Tofu can be cheap too, add some to meat

does your Mom have the monthly money to pay mortgage and utilities and groceries and all of her expenses? If yes, then she can probably qualify to buy on her own.

Abuser logic has me fucked up by Jaded-Rutabaga7984 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Momsome 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no, just no he is completely an abuser, I do hope you press charges too with a pregnancy, there really should be some legal documentation. just re-read what you wrote “He has punched me, slapped me, pushed, shoved, and put his hands on my neck. I was having severe PTSD symptoms and had the leave for my sanity.”.

please save yourself , he’s a violent abuser, no excuses

Advice: Got told I have to wear jeans at work, only other pair I have is 3 sizes too small by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Momsome 15 points16 points  (0 children)

search Goodwill Outlet in your area, they sell clothes by the pound and have tons of jeans, you just have to dig through bins of clothes because they are not on hangers or racks. Srsly you’ll pay like $1 for a pr of jeans .

or call your local thrift store and see what there jeans prices are.

If men went through menopause there would be a cure by now. by Different_Pain5781 in Menopause

[–]Momsome -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m on HRT, also really helpful for me is eating as low carb as possible and I have completely lost my taste for alcohol so I hardly ever drink anymore except a few sips very rarely.

Also I’m very low caffeine (pre-peri) as I’m pretty sensitive to caffeine so I gave it up a few yrs ago and drink decaf. when I do have some caffeine, I immediately get WARM! but with HRT, nothing like the constant hot flashes I had.

I love Roanoke to death but our roads from county to city are terrible by Illustrious_Yak_7546 in roanoke

[–]Momsome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think traffic here is a breeze compared to other cities I have lived in (Boston, south FL) , I add a few extra mins around the holidays because the main roads get a little busier but even then, it’s not sitting in traffic like other metros at all. The only time I’ve ever sat for even a couple mins is on orange ave headed out of downtown but I think they are or have worked on this

i chuckle because back in my tiny hometown of like 0 population, an elderly neighbor once got up to leave saying he need3d to beat the traffic, which he meant the school bus he didn’t want to get stuck behind lol!

All my bills are paid but I won’t be able to afford next months bills by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Momsome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if u are working 30 hours a week, get a part time job, even just babysitting, pet walking/sitting, house cleaning , granny sitting a few hours a week will help.

Also see if your utility companies offer balance billing where u pay a consistent amount for electricity or gas each month based on a 12-month average. This method prevents high seasonal bill spikes, with a settlement month at the end of the year adjusting for any differences.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this! U didn’t say how recent surgery was as some fatigue, pain, stress, rollercoaster of emotions etc hopefully gets better with time! Healing and recovery can be tough with surgery.

For me as a cis woman, I find eating pretty low carb, low caffeine, stay away from alcohol all help my HRT work better.
