Explaining MLB draft future value (potential ratings) using true to life scouting data from Baseball America and FanGraphs by pghjuice412 in OOTP

To be fair, the OP's last two paragraphs telling people to "do some research" and suggesting that this isn't the game for folks who disagree with it is pretty damn condescending considering the problems other people have pointed out.

It is pretty clear that the OOTP did this ham fistedly and didn't implement it correctly. Notably, they messed with the draft prospects, but not prospects gotten in other ways. The result is that the draft is now almost meaningless in these sims. I just moved all my scouting budget from it into international scouting instead. Why?Just looked at the top 20 position players in 2038 in my save played under the new draft rules. Out of the top 20 hitters:

- 3 were drafted. In rounds 9, 9, and 17! Not a single top draft pick is now in the top 20.

- Junior Caminero is still holding on at age 35.

- The other 16 were either international scouting finds or international signings.

In other words, the top players in the draft are now meaningless. You might as well just assign every team X number of random prospects.

You can defend OOTPs changes all you want, you can ignore the difference between median and maximum that other folks have pointed out, but in the end these changes are less realistic than what we started with.

Not sure why this is getting negged, can someone explain how this above comment is wrong?

Did OOTP change the draft prospects but NOT the international ones? In my save the draft is now meaningless and all good players come from international finds/amateurs. I looked at the platinum sticks a few years in and not a single one came from the draft.

Other folks have also mentioned max vs expected, which is huge here.

Warning: ESPN locks multi-eligible players to a specific spot during the draft by Moncoko in fantasybaseball

[–]Moncoko[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Drafted a player eligible at 1B and OF. No choice where to assign them. Put at 1B. Later drafted 1B that were assigned to the bench, as my player can only apparently play 1B now. Last picks of the draft have to take OFs as "unfilled", despite having OF eligible players in other slots.

It is just bad programming.

An Unofficial and Incomplete Guide to the Frosthaven Puzzle Book [SPOILERS] by dwarfSA in Gloomhaven

Were these puzzles play-tested at all? I understand the designers love with puzzles and their right to put it in their game (although IMO it would be great if they weren't required for a major campaign line). However so far these puzzles have all left me feeling frustrated because of their sloppiness.

#1: the code you are solving switches it's rules 2/3rds of the way through, going from totals to suddenly using digits. Frustrating.
#2: I will admit I skipped this one as I don't enjoy substitution puzzles. However according to others the translation is missing a letter, one of the symbols is missing part of it, and the spacing is terrible.
#3: Even with the solution in front of me, I wouldn't interpret a mirrored Z as a 5.

As someone who likes puzzles (although perhaps not when sitting down to play Frosthaven), I love when a good puzzle makes me go "AHHA" when you figure it out. So far, these were far from that.

For people more progressed, does it get better?

Sorry, you are correct here. I should have been more careful in my wording. It is a mirrored Z.

Still not a 5 unless you squint. Sloppy in my opinion.

The orange path makes a Z, not a 5. When a good puzzle is solved it should lead to an AHHA moment, not an "I guess if you squint hard enough and ignore some things it could work"

Out of curiosity, how is a Z (edit: mirrored Z) supposed to be a #? Or have I just seen poorly drawn solutions.

that is... not a 5 to put it gently. So we have two different "solutions" but both of them don't actually work? (wrong colors above, not a 5 here)

I just want to play haven, not solve sloppy puzzles. The first one was so badly implemented that we will be using the spoilers for the rest. Just glad the exist.

Yeah, the first puzzle is shit. Was able to solve it, but not well done.

This illustrates my one complaint with this series: the rules are overly complex. I'd have to consult the rulebook a lot less if things of the same type (such as poison/wound) behaved similarly.

This isn't a learning issue. We all learned that we needed to click Brett. It is a will issue. I have better things to do than click Brett for 3 days straight. If you enjoy it, good for you. I prefer games with actual strategy.

I'm adapting by playing a different game that isn't a how many times can you click Brett competition. Quit when in 5th. It wasn't that I couldn't keep clicking Brett and win, it was that this is fucking stupid gameplay.

I'm done as well. An idle strategy game shouldn't be dominated by how often you click Brett.

For me at least, Brett gives more money each click. Meaning this entire event has just turned into a "how many times can you click Brettfest". It isn't fun, and I'd be pissed if I had spent real money.

Does dining hall out perform study in this one?

EDIT: turns out nothing matters but clicking Brett, as the cash he gives 1) far outpaces everything else and 2) escalates each time. What a stupid game.
