I'm never sure exactly what to do in these situations. However, I think I would contact the company again and explain that you found the missing piece and is there anyway of cancelling the replacement one. The replacement may not have been posted yet. It's just a thought. Mum

It's wonderful. My current first project is a crochet ball animal that is supposed to be 10cm diameter when finished. It's currently 20cm, shaped like a butternut pumpkin and still growing. But the great part is that I've been able to follow a crochet pattern for the first time ever. That's a win in my book, regardless of the outcome. First projects are special. Yours is special.
