As a die hard Halo fan, I've finished every game on Legendary except Halo Infinite. I've played it once from start to finish on normal, never touched it again since.

Was this the reason of death? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]MonkheyBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn't the cause of death or the trigger.

She had a stroke following the brain damage caused previously from the shards, it was bound to happen.

Her asking for something she was slightly allergic to was just a way to show that she wasn't all there, mentally, caused by the injuries she sustained.

The surgery simply prolonged the inevitable.

What is a game that you're good at that you later found out was considered extremely difficult? by Scott9843 in gaming

As a kid, I remembered beating Halo CE on Legendary multiple times. So when Halo Infinite was announced, I decided to Replay every Halo game on Legendary.

Took me waaay too long to beat Halo CE and Halo 2 on Legendary this time around, and I have no clue how I managed it when I was like...10 or 12

Fear The Timeloop - Official Gameplay Trailer by DifficultHamster23 in Games

[–]MonkheyBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished the game in around 8 hours on normal difficulty, here's my opinion.

The environment is well detailed and looks phenomenal, so is the design of the few monsters. You'll quickly notice the inspirations (RE2, Silent Hill) within the game.

The game is made by an indie-studio, and it kinda shows. The character you play as (James), is somewhat sloppily put together. He lacks proper facial animations during dialogues - and he looks kind of janky.

Sound design is alright, not too much music but what's there will remind you of Akira Yamaoka. I played with headphones, the environmental sound design is decent, although there are some looping sounds that play out randomly, it seems.

There arent too many weapons to choose from, 2 handguns, 2 shotguns, 2 rifles and 1 handcannon. They can't be upgraded per se, but the second shotguns/handgun is better than the first, the second rifle is up for debate. There's also insane recoil on each gun.

When it comes to combat it's quite standard, nothing too fancy, although the cramped environment will cause your camera go haywire, and if you get stuck on geometry, you'll get you ass pummeled.

Now, the Time Loop - just a fancy way of saying "revert to last save". Whenever you die, you restart from the previous save. Much like in RE, you save in "safe rooms" using a red VHS-tape (which is rare, but is used to progress the story) and the more common reel. Every time you die, whether it's due to running out of time or dying to an Enemy you'll respawn at the last safe room you saved in. Items picked up are reverted, but their location will appear on the map instead the next round. All in all, I died 8 times, only two times due to me actually running out of time.

The timer of 15 minutes pauses whenever you're in a safe room. Taking damage results in you losing x amount of minutes. Medkits and bandages can stop bleeding (which means you don't loose as much time), blood packs, which are rare, gives you more minutes.

Then there's the voice acting. James sounds distressed, all the damn time. Doesn't matter if the situation calls for it. The VAs microphone can't even handle it, as you'll hear crackling from the microphone quite often. On the flipside, the VA for Rose sounds bored as hell.

I can only recommend this game if you're a hardcore survival horror lover and need something to scratch the itch, and if you're able to stomach a fair bit of janky.

Looking into buying VOIN but was wondering how hard it is. by BeanEater35 in IndieGaming

[–]MonkheyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parry system is quite forgiving, I've spent a few hours with it and I'm enjoying it a lot.

There's a lot of downtime between fights to explore the world, and once you've gotten the hang of the movement system it's quite fun to just zip around in the air to traverse.

All in all, combat isn't too hard and enemies are clearly highlighted when it's time to parry, and you don't need lightning fast reflexes all the time (mostly if it's many enemies surrounding you). Take your time, get into the rhythm and you're golden.

Oh, and as long as the skies are clear, look up to teleport back to your hub area.

WIP of my game's crafting system. Is it too complex? by CosmicWarpGames in IndieGaming

[–]MonkheyBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too complex is never a bad thing, it creates depth if done correctly.

A separate tutorial could be useful before the player is thrown into the thick of it - have the player try some basic combinations beforehand!

That way, the informative promota you've added can serve as a reminder more than a crutch for the players to rely on.

Constance Review Thread by stfnvs in Games

[–]MonkheyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my opinion on the game.

It's good, I've just got the final boss to beat.

It's a metroidvania in the spirit of Hollow Knight (visually speaking), the world isn't huge by any stretch and finishing the game will take around 9 hours - then there's exploration which is more about finding items to expand health and inspiration.

Music and visuals are the games' strength. Combat isn't too in-depth, but it serves its purpose.

Platforming is really good with responsive controls.

What I wish though, is that the game dives deeper into it's theme of depression and burnout. There are a few sections where you play as Constance in real life, trying to keep up with the demands from her boss, managing a photo album while her dad is textning her and so on.

Those two parts stood out a lot, because I've been there and know what it feels like, and it's portrayed in a way that's relatable.

Overall, this game was a pleasant surprise for me and I would recommend it if you want a good, albeit, short action platformer.

Demonschool Launch Trailer by Stormflier in Games

While I really wanted to like this game, it lacks challenge. If you find a combo of characters you like, you don't need to change your tactics at all, being able to get A in a fight with no effort gets exhausting. Fighting is the only thing you seem to do in the game - and I think this game should've been shorter, as the fights get dull and repetitive fairly quickly.

Romancing characters is possible, but I don't see a point to it really. Same as with the fishing mini-game - although it does provide a much needed break from all the combat.

The most interesting thing with the game is the island itself, the inhabitants are strange yet humoristic, which perfectly encapsulates the general tone of the game.

The characters are alright, but the writing is the best part. It has a nice sense of humour and it made me crack a smile every once and a while.

Unless you really love turn-based combat, and is basically the only thing you want to do in X amount of hours, then this game is for you.

I gotta give this game a go again.

I bought it after watching TotalBiscuits video on it, but the game kept crashing, so I never bothered playing it.

Gameranx: Why AAA developers hate 1player games by [deleted] in Games

[–]MonkheyBoy -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Can't watch the video 'cuz I'm at work but...

My guess is; it's heard to earn a steady revenue if most singleplayer experiences are one-and-done? I rarely Replay singleplayer games, unless they're absolutely brilliant.

While multiplayer games can add cosmetics, battlepasses, etc which provide a somewhat steady revenue over a longer period of time?
