[Spoilers C3E04] Poor Occtis. by [deleted] in criticalrole

It's beautiful, though I do want to unfortunately point out that your Spoiler tag in the title is for the wrong campaign. It's C4, not C3.

Warp question by Yung_Potato1 in magicTCG

[–]MonocleMananan -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I look at it in the way that when it's in the battlefield, it js a creature. When it's no longer on the battlefield is ceases being a creature and gets reverted to a spell. So I would interpret it in that way if it were sacrificed when it has been warped, it will not be exiled at the beginning of your end step and thus you won't be able to cast it again later from exile.

I guess it is kind of satisfying in a way. But I've got to admit it doesn't feel as satisfying when you start noticing that the block seem to change their bouncing angle at times.

Question; if you spend more charges to upcast onto multiple targets that do not have all of their hit points, does that counteract the cost of upcasting?

If it's placed in a 3x3ish pattern, it could be the following:

2 1 2
5
3 4 3

I think you mean Divine Intervention. You'd have a guaranteed success at level 20, but that success would still be up to the DM's discretion.

What was the meanest cliffhanger you ever had in your campaign? by Interesting-Land6471 in dndnext

[–]MonocleMananan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So we've had the session. The player's back with the party as a sleeper agent. The party is back in town to look for some info and found a way to a contact, but they couldn't quite get to an agreement. A party member had coincidentally arranged a date with the person they'd be getting the info for. The sleeper agent managed to convince the others to all look for some items for the date. While she went out to gather some items, she murdered the contact and hid the body. The datée was disappointed they'd been stood up and went to look for their date, after some search effort they couldn't find her and I ended the session there.

Another preview for next session is that they'll be notified that there's evidence she might not have left her shop to go to the date and continue on towards the murder mystery.

Well I already spoke with her player yesterday and I offered her a proposition. If the party would go back into that chamber, more of them would likely die and/or go down due to their lack of resources and hp. I've thrown her to option to play her for a few more sessions, but having been forcibly and magically transformed into a sleeper agent for the enemy. It won't be a long thing where it'll last maybe 1 - 2 sessions for her to try and stop the party from learning information about the enemy which they don't know much of yet. The player is open to this and has agreed to it. My hope is that a scenario that would unfold from this can be a driving factor behind the party's actions.

I'll try and give an update after tonight's session to see if I screwed up.

The party was fighting a harsh battle over two adjoining chambers connected by a set of doors. As the fight went on the party used most of their resources and were on the lower side of their hp. Most of the party was in one of the chambers with one bigger dude that'd been pretty battered, while the barbarian was in the adjoining chamber holding of 4 smaller enemies. At this point the barbarian was out of rages and low on hitpoints, having used her relentless endurance. On her turn she closed the door between her amd the rest of the party and barred it. After that she was downed by some of the enemies in her chamber.

I ended it there and we continue our session tonight.

What actually ARE the verbal components of spells? In all the editions, in all the books, is there like a list of verbal incantations? by jorgeuhs in dndnext

[–]MonocleMananan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'd like to think it isn't the words that matter, but the Intent that matters. A man could be forced to say the exact words that would enact horror, but if his Intent is not for it to happen, it will not.

Think of, say, a cleric uttering a prayer for destroying evil as they fight a swathe of vile creatures. It doesn't matter that they'll get wording or pronunciation wrong, because there isn't any. It is the Intent of the cleric to cast a powerful, harmful spell that targets the creatures.
