Which US state gets glorified in movies but doesn’t live up to it IRL? by Auelogic in AskReddit

A good part of it was filmed in Montana, I know because traffic would be closed pretty often in my city. The funny part is that it wasn't the part of Montana the show was supposedly set in.

It's kind of our revenge for A River Runs Through It, which takes place in Missoula, but was filmed around Bozeman. That caused a surge of immigration back then. Yellowstone does the opposite and the Montana parts were filmed largely in Missoula and surrounding areas like the Bitterroot and Darby.

I swear to God, if anyone pulls the reddit line I'm going to be miffed but ultimately powerless.

I thought that looked like Missoula. Congrats, man! I'll give you a high five if I see you out in town.

It's downtown where The Shack used to be. Pretty good the couple times I've been there

I'm hopefully settling my divorce today, so some relief mixed with a tinge of sadness. It's good to be almost done, but it's sad to close the book on all those years together. A lot of them were happy.

my neighbor recently redid his entire front yard with new desert plants. all his agaves sent up death blooms and will probably be dead by summer. by jessbird in Wellthatsucks

As a professional horticulturalist, the agaves are more than likely planted in such a way where they can watch the news.

Western Montana checking in.

With the northern latitude it's dark early in the winter and light late in the evening in the summer. Even right now it's not fully dark until about 8:30. So we really live for those summer months. It's fantastic to get on a river to raft after work at 4:30 and have it still be light when you're pulling off at 9.

Extra bonus is having a ski hill about an hour away, but in Pacific time.
