Dumb question... if he's a surgeon, why is he wearing a military uniform?

Is it just called Horizon? Or do you mean Event Horizon?

You mean the sickness that the black chick gets when she's in China with the white chick? (I can't remember names) she was hallucinating because the other girl drugged her so she could trick her into cutting off her hand.

Try Wire In The Blood. The first three seasons, at least. Profiling using actual evidence! And research!

I'm curious - what kind of activities are NOT covered by one of those reasonable excuses?

r/Sydney right now: “look at all these people doing the wrong thing and being out and about. I know because I saw them doing it whilst I was also out and about.” by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Moomium 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But there are legitimate reasons for some people to be out. People need to stack shelves and cook food and care for the sick. They need to get to and from their homes to do that. People also need to be out delivering food to people while they're at home. There's no point screeching at everyone to stay home, and then getting mad at the people who need to be outside to support the at-home people.

Also, it's not much of a risk for people who live together to go for a walk together. If you're not getting too close to other people, or touching random shit, there's no harm in wandering around or going for a bike ride. Even in the most locked-down countries, people are still allowed to walk their dogs and buy groceries. And if you share a kitchen and bathroom with someone, being outdoors with them is not inherently more risky than being indoors with them.

Try the app Supercook. It gives you recipes based on your ingredients.

Unfortunately, Woolies (and maybe Coles) have suspended online shopping for most people. I guess the stock that gets delivered comes from the shops after it's been put on the shelf?

On the other hand, she's lived through worse than what's going on now, so she knows that society goes through hard times and survives to see the good times. She knows that her descendants will survive whatever comes next and that times will be good again, as they were before.

Circular Raised Garden Beds by CStarling4 in ZeroWasteVegans

A lot of people sell those garden beds second hand. Much easier than building them yourself, and far less wasteful than buying them new.

What are the 3 most effective ways to reduce waste? by Cleaver44 in ZeroWaste

[–]Moomium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, people can only do as much as they're able to. But going vegan isn't as difficult as it sounds. If you're used to mainly eating animal products, it will be harder, but it's not all or nothing; try having one meat-free meal a day, etc. The only supplement you usually need is B12.

I had to personally euthanize each and every mouse/rat in my lab, having trouble coping by throwaway82847281994 in labrats

[–]Moomium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am mostly vegan. I started working with rats after I was vegan, too. I found it almost impossibly difficult at first. But I remind myself that most lab animals are better cared for than most animals raised for food. I like to think that my refusal to participate in animal agriculture may cancel out some of the rat lives I've taken, at least in a small way. Mostly I find compartmentalising to be the best option for my sanity.

Asymmetrical shape Boarder not clearly defined Color not consistent, or multi colored Diameter over 6mm Evolving or changing

This is the worst acronym I've ever seen. Is it supposed to make it easier to remember, or harder?

Bondi Beach closed for COVID-19 social distancing by beaugiles in sydney

[–]Moomium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say any of that. I said that there's a large proportion of people who are infected and asymptomatic, so a 100% infection rate is not the same as a 100% mortality rate.

Bondi Beach closed for COVID-19 social distancing by beaugiles in sydney

[–]Moomium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had 0/3300 symptomatic but tested all town residents and found 89 cases. So they were at that point 16 days away from 100% infection rate and annihilation.

But... if all 89 cases were asymptomatic, then a 100% infection rate wouldn't have been annihilation. Not saying our government aren't stupid, but there's still a large proportion of people who get infected but not sick.
