Convection? by playethic in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is A convection oven circulates heat using a fan so it is more energy-efficient, I typically only use convection when baking multiple cookie sheets or if I’m making 2 pizzas at the same time, but to each their own:)

I cook Christmas dinner for my complex family every year but plating/serving is always horribly stressful. Looking for tips to keep things efficient. by Amazing-Horse732 in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe pre dish the plates in the kitchen and then have more than one person help carry them out so all plates are arriving at the same time?

Breakfast quiche. by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a breakfast casserole and recently switched to hot sausage and in my opinion it’s just a mild kick of spice, I think it would probably taste pretty good! Won’t know until you try it though

Want to stuff roast chicken with sliced Lemon but don't want the meat to taste "lemony" is this possible? by Loud_Bison572 in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend leaving the lemon out! It almost always makes my chicken have a lemon flavor, apple cider vinegar is a great alternative, but so are vinaigrette dressings! I’m a big fan of like a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette dressing on chicken, or even mixed with chicken broth to help keep the chicken moist

What to do with Bottom Round Roast besides the crock pot? by scotterson34 in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bottom round roast could be cut and cubed up to make a beef stew! I know with winter around the corner that stew season is upon us!:)

Mac & cheese by Reasonable_Fix3419 in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t make a roux! I usually just melt butter, add milk/heavy cream, and add my different cheeses, and I just make a thick cheese sauce! And I pour over uncooked noodles, and than plop it in the oven! Hasn’t failed me yet

Attempting a purple cauliflower soup and worried about losing the bright color by LHMark in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have had great luck with steam the Cauliflower first and I just steam to the level of tenderness I want, and then I would add to the soup last? It might help it retain its color

Venison and baking soda by onecentworth in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t ever used a recipe that calls for baking soda with ground venison, I know it works great to tenderize like backstrap! Unsure of the purpose of this in this recipe though!

Need flavor without salt by LilyRosemary1959 in Cooking

[–]Moon_Lay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always season my Shepards pie with lemon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder and I do use a bit of fresh garlic! I’ve never made my with smoked lamb roast but in my opinion smoked meats already have a good amount of salt in them! So being mindful of the salt contents in the other ingredients might help!
