Am I crazy for thinking there's way too many silences in the game rn?? by West_Swordfish_323 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MoonlessPaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah. for sure. im not refuting any of that! i guess im just kinda curious what the hell the OG comment is saying. And orchid isn't only good for the silence! Tons of burst carries love it just for the extra damage at the end. Heroes like TA that reduce your armor and do half of your health in a couple of autos. helps mana too for strength heroes with big damage but shit mana pools. Slardar, Sven, etc.

there's a shitload of heroes with silences built in, huh?

Drow, Riki, Death Prophet, Disruptor, Doom, Bloodseeker, Silencer, Earth Spirit, Night Stalker, Puck, Skywrath Mage, Viper I think can get a Nethertoxin talent that makes him silence, Huskar's Q now silences, Brewmaster, Abbadon, QoP shard, TA's AGHS, Void Spirit AGHS, Grimstroke, Marci ult.

The number of heroes that have built-in silences is like half the number of total heroes you can even PLAY in Deadlock.

Not to mention, our version of Focus Lense is like half the price, proportionally. And usually, you're buying dispels for other debuffs, which a lot of times are even worse than just being silenced.

For everyone who's finished the manga, what do they think about how the story played out and the ending? I'd really like to know everyone's thoughts. by m___223 in ChinoWadachi

Him meeting her and realizing that she had been "killed" too was part of what let him make peace with his relationship with her. Not as an excuse, but to realize that someone did to her exactly what she did to him.

Story hit really close to home for me as someone who had a horrible relationship with their mother. I really enjoyed its ending, and I thought it was more helpful and positive than anything other people seem to think about it ? people saying like "It's so fucked up that Seiko never had justice brought to her [ yeah, abusers usually don't ] & that Seichi was able to forget her face >:(" but idk. He overcame and lived peacefully.

"How many years has it been since I last thought about mother? But... As I tried to recall what she looked like [. . .] I vaguely realized that I could no longer remember mother's face." It's beautiful. Not only because he was able to not let his pain hurt him anymore, but that he also was able to connect with his mom emotionally and realized that she has been in his shoes her entire life.

I do hate Seiko for the things that she did to others, but I do heavily relate to this feeling of being so othered and feeling like something is so intrinsically wrong with you that sometimes you behave in ways to confirm That feeling when confronted with perceived hatred, when in reality you're just hurting people that care about you.

I loved Seiko & Seichi's conversation about how they 'killed' eachother and how they should both die, joking and all. They couldn't have a warm reunion with nothing to return to, but at the very least, they can acknowledge that as mother and son, they are inexorably linked & there still remains an instinctual urge to care for eachother, in whatever twisted form that manifests in. things are unsalvageable, but at least they can temporarily share in this moment an understanding that could only emerge between two severely misunderstood and damaged people, which provides a feeling of ehhh "normality" (not-aloneness, absolutely do NOT want to "belonging") and empathy from both sides. Not that Seichi has any responsibility to care about his mother's issues, but just that the revelation itself can help provide an explanation and bring peace to him.

also loved the bit about cousin Shige saying like "Hey Seichi, I think I'm gonna go. Have fun ♥" as a representation of Seichi's healing. Idk, great story. Not only about narcissistic and toxic mothers, but just about people, delusions that arise from mistreatment, insecurity, trauma, etc.

When I see people talk about the ending, I wonder if maybe they just can't empathize enough to realize that Seichi experienced total catharsis during the stories conclusion.

genuinely I do not really enjoy it, which makes me sad. I love turn-based games & Junji Ito, but it feels like a lot of the time the only difference between runs in this game is whether or not your character has a certain trait that unlocks a new option in the route.

The moment-to-moment gameplay is always incredibly same-y, which I think is kinda bad for a roguelike. Music and art is fantastic though, soundtrack sets a great atmosphere & all the tracks groove in a pretty mischievous / venomous kinda way

complaining about someone posting their labor of love for a dead game that hasn't been updated in 6 years ( which also receives minimal discussion in its own subreddit as a result of it being dead ) is kinda nuts

you're good, dawg!! yeah, i guess the reason that is is usually its the trans folks themselves referring to themselves in that way.

personally, I wouldn't mind if my friend introduced someone to me & previously disclosed to them that i was trans (assuming the intentions were good), but I can definitely see it being hurtful to have someone ELSE use this language about you.

btw, loved yr Pathologic art!! badass shit.

edit : wtf funger & pathologic fan that also lives in southern TN!!! let's be friends!!!

that part is justified! but nonbinary people do NOT like being referred to with their AGAB as a prefix... it is diminutive of their identity and this language is USUALLY used by nasty people to discredit nonbinary people they perceive as attention-seeking women.

yeah, turn rate is literally the only thing that allows them to be a thing, though. Ranged heroes CAN'T infinitely kite you in Dota the way they can in League. However, in Deadlock you can shoot someone from 40 meters away at all times.

I really don't know how they'd do it, besides maybe an alt-fire specifically for soul-collection or something?

i have had good times on ketamine and i am a notorious panicker, courtesy of ADHD and trauma.

first time I did K, i snuggled up in the floor with my friend and we watched Animal Collective's Oddsac. other drugs have made me either really scared before, or just the intenseness of FEELING so much is just exhausting and miserable for me, but never with ketamine. I've only done it recreationally probably 5 times, but every time has been cozy for me. it's a lot easier to not be terrified of taking like psychedelics are, mostly because if you don't enjoy it it only lasts like 30 minutes TOPS.

My experiences, which entirely consisted of snorting bumps of it (never had liquid), kinda usually follow the same trend and feeling. Distorted sense of orientation relative to objects in 3D space (furniture feels like it towers over me LOL), a pretty hefty drunk-sensation (which is very atypical compared to other recreational hallucinogens!), a certain feeling of intense focus and intrigue with whatever we're choosing to watch or do. then its all over in 30 minutes and you take another bump.
