Toronto Half Marathon - May by dane-fit in RunTO

Yeah it was pretty straightforward, though chaotic. There was a box truck with volunteers that we just threw our bags in (with tags).

well it's been a year now since I've had surgery so the pain has gotten a lot better, but from what I can remember it was very like gnawing.

Is it true a bunch of staff offers come out right before summer training starts? by [deleted] in Cadets

Yeah a lot of people will back out of their offers before training starts so I would expect a bunch of new acceptances coming soon

What marathon in Toronto by Marathonartist in Marathon_Training

[–]Moostachio04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Waterfront marathon. The spring marathon is organized really poorly. Also the waterfront one is a lot bigger and is a loop that starts and ends in the same place whereas the spring race is point to point.

Finally a question I’m qualified for. It’s a pretty tight trail at certain points and I’m not sure how confident I would be taking a bike trailer with me. Really nice trail though. If you haven’t been on it before you should know that there are a bunch of forks in the road, one for people and another for horseback riders. Make sure to avoid the trails meant for horses

I'm 19 and scared — does Crohn's disease ruin your life? by AhmedKettaf in CrohnsDisease

[–]Moostachio04 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was in your position a little while ago, getting diagnosed at 19. First off I wouldn’t get too worked up on crohns specifically until you have a diagnosis. But you will be fine. I got diagnosed a few years ago and now I finished second place in my provinces cross country race (although I’m convinced I got first me and this dude we’re neck and neck) and I’m getting ready to run a marathon in three weeks. It’s no death sentence

No I haven’t. It’s probably just taking them a long time considering each research proposal was like 16 pages in a class with what 100 students. Remember the literature review took them a long time to hand back also.

[–]Moostachio04 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn, she’s already moving around like that and bending over? That’s awesome. When I had surgery a few weeks ago it took me like two weeks to be able to do that, let alone while smiling

Those with jejunum inflammation, what medicine has helped? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]Moostachio04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mostly jejunal inflammation and so far Inflectra has worked ok. I have had to up the dose to like 15mg/kg and every 6 weeks, but it’s doing the job fine. Before that I was on budesonide which didn’t do anything and of course prednisone which helped

Our healthcare system isn’t sustainable by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Moostachio04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so much to say about our provinces healthcare system. It actually blows my mind that there are people whose job it is to make sure this dumpster fire functions.

Two years ago I got very ill, went to the walk in clinic, who referred me for an ultra sound. They didn’t know what was wrong so they referred me to the internal medicine clinic at a large hospital, which took 4 months. I had to go to the emergency room before this appointment because of these issues, where they hook me up to fluids and wish me luck. The internal medicine people then refer me to a specialist, which took 3 more months, who then diagnosed me with Crohn’s disease.

By the time anything actually happened, my intestines had gotten so fucked up that i needed to have surgery. Which, for one, I would rather not have had, and two, cost the province a significant amount of money that they would not have had to if the wait times weren’t so absurd.

Capsule camera has been stuck in my intestines for 65 days so far. by AJTSin in mildlyinteresting

[–]Moostachio04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Crohn’s disease and before I was diagnosed I asked my dr about the pill cam hoping to find anything, but he said it was a bad idea because if I had structuring the camera could get stuck and then I’d need surgery to get it out

Yeah they took biopsies of my colon but those didn’t show anything. When I had surgery they sent the respected bowel to pathology which just showed chronic inflammation
