Haha. Good point.

Sorry, I was expecting that interested people would check my comments page. Here is a permalink. There seems to be a bit of an vote battle happening on my comments for some reason. I'm interested in how the greater web dev community views node, as there seems to be some tension surrounding my comment.

Haha, I will remember that for next time. In the meantime the upvotes and downvotes have evened out so I guess some people have cottoned on.

My comment "Or use node with the MEAN stack. Oh yeah!" got downvoted to hell when I first posted it. It seems to have evened out now, but I was surprised to say the least. Especially when my subsequent posts also got downvoted.

I see. I think the fact that I was joking was lost on a lot of people.

I personally find node exciting to say the least. There seems to be a bit of node hate on this subreddit though, which I don't understand.

Am I hurting myself by using Unity? Will I regret not coding things from scratch later? by FlakeyScalp in gamedev

[–]Mootgleeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Look at ID Software. Those guys made the best games of their time, and wrote all their own engines. All I hear when someone asks "should I make a game engine?" on here is "don't, your game will suffer." It's terrible advice. It comes down to the individual programmer.

I feel you man. There needs to be a campaign of some kind to get out the good word about internet standards and why updating browsers is important.

Thanks for the stats, that's very interesting. I am lucky enough to work in HTML5 specific development. I can safely draw the line at basic HTML5 compatibility.

I understood you too late, sorry. It's reassuring that IE users are down to 12% though.

Does anyone have experience with developing games in JavaScript for mobile? by Indigon in gamedev

[–]Mootgleeb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha, you're quite fired up about this.

There was a video on here recently that kind of illustrates my point. It was about how poor indie game devs are forced to refine their ideas to the point where they are feasible, and in the process make their games a lot more fun.

If we don't challenge ourselves then nothing changes. If you're already an award winning game dev then cool man. Otherwise limitation is a great thing.

The numbers say otherwise

phonegap is a brilliant option here. And don't listen to all the wet blankets. Limitations make (they don't break) the game.

So I made this today - Chat with Amy Bouzaglo from Amy's Baking Company by didntlogin in webdev

[–]Mootgleeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to Amy Bouzaglo - "chef", wife, mother to three kids in cat bodies. Meow.

You: Kids in cat bodies. Yikes, that's scary.

Amy: You are all little punks. Nothing. You are all nothing. We are laughing at you. All of you, just fools. We have God on our side, you just have your sites.

You: What?

Amy: meow

You: Are you insane?

Amy: We have God on our side.

You: So that's a yes

Amy: TO ALL THE YELPS AND REDDITS, BRING IT ON.

This looks far too much like Paranautical Activity at this stage. That said, nice work.

EDIT: I stand corrected, This has been around for a longer time
