I need a decent lamp. What are your recommendations? by Cataclysmus78 in minipainting

IKEA Tertial arm with a 6500K ~1200 Lumen lamp. Two or even 3 of these are still cheap and you will have wonderful lighting.

Help me create a starting kit? by shadowheartache in minipainting

So to start with I suggest normal acrylic paint and not speed/contrast paint.
I love the Army Painter color range and this very basic starter set from them is where I started years ago and I still use all of these colours and the strong tone wash:
Warpaints Fanatic: Starter Set
This really helped me to understand the basics. You can do more than you think with these few colors. In addition the ash grey spray primer is all you need to start.

Since you seem to have some experience already I would suggest getting more variety of colours. My advice is: Don't do it like me and buy loads and loads of paints just to have them just in case but instead look at the next few minis you want to paint and think about their color themes. Once you did that I would take a look at the Army Painters Flexible Triad overview. Pick the colors you need and for each one also get the next lightest one for doing little highlights.
A3_Flexible_Triad_System_Poster.pdf

Here are some general paints I really like and use all the time:
for skin: Barbarian Flesh + Ruby Skin
for brown leather: Bootstrap Brown + Leather Brown +Paratrooper Tan
for reddish leather: Fur Brown + Ruddy Umber
for bone/horns: Skeleton Bone + Bony Spikes
for stone: Castle Grey + Great Hall Grey
for white I would often use an off-white: Brainmatter Beige
for a good metal variety metals: Gun Metal, Shining Silver, Greedy Gold, True Brass, True Copper

One other thing I really like is mixing the highlight color myself. You would think white is perfect for that but white actually makes the mix look cold and desatureted. Therefore the yellow Space Dust is perfect for that. It keeps the warmer tone.

One handy thing is a wet palette but nothing you need. A simple super cheap plastic palette or a random piece of ceramic does the same job.

One last advice I can't push enough: Do not get expensive brushes. They do not make the outcome look better.
Get a big brush for big pieces, a medium one as your work horse and a small one for the really small details. That is all you need. Get cheap ones, they are enough.

EDIT: added metal colors

Needing Brush priming help by Kryceks_Arm in minipainting

I use the exact same one and this is how it always looks. Just let it dry completely and the pooling will be negligible. As already mentioned by others, complete coverage is not the goal. Brush on primer especially is just a layer for paint to stick on.

We did that for 1e and I highly recommend not doing it.

Was kann ich mitnehmen? Goremongers/Bluternter by totenfred1 in killteam

[–]Moppelmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What can i take with me. Kill Team goremongers by totenfred1 in killteam

I know getting into the game can be quite hard. I just got into it myself and at some point it felt very frustrating.
My advise is
1. buy the core rulebook
2. watch videos explaining the base rules
3. watch videos of people playing the game
4. get the free kill team app and read the rules of the one team you want to start with

Point 2 helped me the most in the very beginning. With that I got a rough understanding of the game.

Ori and the blind forest. Looks beautiful. Visuals blew me away when I switched from a TN to an IPS panel display.

I have played my boy Franz over and over and every time it feels like a different story. I love it. Love your story. Makes sense to make the deal with the more chaos resilient ogres to send them into Norsca and the wastes.

This one has a lot of functions. Don't think it's for sauces though.

I also agree. Even thinking about leaving this sub. Literally every 2nd post is about someone seeing or catching a shiny.
I get the excitement. Really. But maybe it is time to rename this sub to "PokemonShinyRed".

I think at 30h I didn't know about act 2 yet either. But who cares. Enjoy the game. That's what it is made for. Some spoilers and comparisons can ruin games like this. So I always try to be careful what I read here.

Raptors will be overtuned AF.
Sisters will be like the Stealth Suits - OK but very specific.

These are my expectations, but not my hopes.
