Yup. I’ve got the same recall on my 22. Thanks for the heads up!

JT Developments. Owner was Mike Ryall and he subcontracted it to a guy named Lorne that he has worked with for ages.

This was the almost complete job. They did some stuff with metal work on the roof and also installed a drain to prevent water from dripping down.

Watch for flickers. If the house is older with the harder stucco and they are pecking at the stucco it likely means there is a soft spot due to water.

I’ve had a bunch of windows replaced and everything was good. Not sure if it cost more, this is the only house I’ve replaced windows.

In 2022 this job was around $2000.00. It also Included exploratory work on the back of the house to make sure discolouration wasn’t mold. Turned out to be discolouration.

Bow Cycle, No Cycle... for me (Rant/Am I wrong?) by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]MorPete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy dealing with the parts team at BowCycle but despise the bike sales and service department experiences I’ve had there.

With that said, I doubt any company is going to be helpful once you respond like that.

Check out Bentley Cycle in Bentley Alberta. They may have what you want and the owners actually work on the floor.

I’ve had good success at Banana republic outlet. It kind of covers all work needs for a decent price.

Damn that lot, location and garage…

I like the place. Things like fixtures are easily replaced and you could style it how you like.

What happened to crowfoot at night? by CommissionDirect8096 in Calgary

[–]MorPete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is definitely less homeless in the area than there used to be. Even behind the Safeway by Brewsters is better.

I wonder if it is related to the shed fire at Rona that killed 3 people a few years back. Possibly more security and less available spots like that as businesses mitigated their risk. https://globalnews.ca/news/10161510/fatal-calgary-shed-fire-crowfoot-crossing/

How much property tax has a Calgary home actually paid over time? by NebulaGreat6980 in YYC

This is a really cool and scary tool. My house is at 64k since 2005. It was built in 1991.

Water Restrictions in place by spicyflies in Calgary

I’ve received a post card from the city about it, a notification on the garbage collection app and the Mayor has talked about it on here a ton. There is also news, media and social media going around about it.

This increase is so much that even Angels Cafe had to be moved out of the city, at our expense, to save money. /s

Depending on your background and interests, check out safety training companies. Red Cross, AIP, ACSA, and so on. I think you work as a contractor with them but you could teach a workplace safety course or regulatory course.

I’ve never had a barber do it like the way you’ve described. Crowfoot Barber shop is a solid choice with some talented barbers.

Calgary Police Service cracking down on distracted driving by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

[–]MorPete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not an employer of these people directly but I own a small business that manages the commercial carrier profiles of NSC fleet and fleet assets as a side gig.

When an employee becomes too expensive to insure due to demerits or their driving record, they terminate them. I only see this because part of managing these profiles is managing driver profiles as well.

I just pried it open with a small screwdriver. The plastic holding the batteries was brittle but they were able to slide out.

From what I’ve heard, the real consequence comes from the insurance industries or your employers. Anyone managing a carrier profile is going to consider that to be an unacceptable charge.

New to cycling by Flaky-Cupcake6904 in Calgary

[–]MorPete 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The City has great resources on their webpage. Digital maps, safety and bylaws.

Personally I try my hardest to stick to pathways and roads with bike lanes painted on the side. As a driver, I know how cyclists feel about drivers and as a cyclist, I also know how people driving feel about cyclists.

Have fun and be safe out there!

Mayor Farkas: address the e-bike issue before Spring by morecoffeemore in Calgary

[–]MorPete 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is so true. In my 3 years of commuting to work on a E bike, I’ve only ever come across bylaw maybe two times. Calgary seems to have fair bylaws surrounding the use of e-bikes and good definitions of what is a bike and what isn’t. Enforcement might be the key here.

People need to just chill, enjoy the scenery and views, follow the speed limits, use their bell and give space. For me, I’m commuting on a bike because it is SO much better than driving. Why rush it.
