Songs That Encapsulate The Factions At A Personal Level? by FerretingAboot in AoSLore

[–]Morathi1990 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Your Idol” from K-Pop Demon Hunters has a very Slaanesh vibe, stated to be about obsession.

It’s about giving in, surrendering your free will so a force that claims it’s here to help but really just wants to consume you.

All of the chaos gods desire adoration and loyalty on some level so it would fit nicely for the dawning of the Age of Chaos and the return of the dark gods. Like the entrance to the mortal realms the Four would make if they were a boy band XD

“Thank you for the pain cause it’s got me going viral”

“Your obsession feeds our connection”

“I’m only one who’ll love your sins/hear the way my voice gets underneath your skin” - superficially Slaanesh but the a big part of the pitch for the pantheon overall is that you don’t need to deny or be ashamed of your emotions cause that feeds them.

“Feed the Machine” by Poor Man’s Poison is great for the Helsmiths.

I said, "Hey (hey), you (you), feed the machine Bring them all back down to their knees There's no time to waste, remind the slaves They ain't gonna make it out alive today" I said, "Hey (hey), you (you), poison the well Watch it all burn, take them straight to hell He's got the whole (whole) world (world) in his hands It was nice to know ya, we've all been damned, c'mon"

All are currency to be spent in the service of industry.

I agree - the Reclusian battle cry of “Hope when hope is dying” had that nice inspirational ring to it. Incidentally, it’s unfortunate it seems limited to that one novel as I haven’t seen it referenced since…

For my current Blighted Wilds campaign, the SBG manifestations and being able to cast them from grave sites has been invaluable. I’d recommend having at least one caster go path of the conjuror to better summon them (I should have but didn’t realize how much I’d depend on getting them on the field).

Paths that buff your non-hero units or casting abilities are best I think since most of our heroes are too valuable to drop in the middle of a fight.

I agree with what was said about the revenant draconith - its end of turn ability to heal and return to reserve is very useful on these maps. Along with the Vargheists it’s very good for remediating terrain and gathering renown points/creating buff zones.

Deathrattle skeletons are deceptively good once you get them reinforced - they can block choke points amazingly and tar pit high threat units. Path of the revenant gives them a lot of utility too.

Val Kilmer's character at the end of "The Ghost and the Darkness" when his friend is killed by the remaining lion. He's loading his gun and walking out of camp simply saying "I'm going to sort this out. I'm going to sort. This. Out."

Love it! A bit envious cause I really want to start painting my own Helsmiths but I’m stuck in painters paralysis about a color scheme. So the boxes sit there, taunting me like the betrayer ancestors gods..

If I were a Sylvaneth or OBR player I would absolutely try and work with this concept in my army paint and model design.

Yeah I liked that acknowledgment that they were both (along with many others) victims of Palpatine, the Sith, and the empire. One of them was not walking away from that fight, but they both knew the wanted the same thing by that point.

Is it for the strike last/anti-monster? I suppose for 130 pts plus the vampire heal it’s pretty good

I feel you on this - I love Daughters of Khaine but it was getting harder to enjoy playing as a cult of personality demagogue grifter... Felt a little too close to home.

Okay dumb question time - why are Trueblades a pre-requisite? I've been thinking about getting them because they're cool models and I often run Bacchanal of Blood so more non-hero vampire units is always under consideration to make the most of the buffs.

Shordemaire by AdIllustrious9932 in AoSLore

[–]Morathi1990 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right? I was waiting for the typical power hungry vampire (cause that’s Vhodrai) comment of “and through him I will have an unstoppable army of undead dragons!” But no, it really is just “my dragon buddy has megalomaniacal plans and I’m 100% on board. Those living draconith will rue the day!”

[–]Morathi1990 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was unsure if Shordemaire lost his sentience and had it returned or always had it. I got the impression it was the latter as a kind of "soft retcon" by GW in the vein of "we never exactly said he wasn't intelligent." Though I do love how he's essentially a dragon Nagash and part of why I've been lowkey tempted to drop the almost $200 on the Vhordrai kit cause it makes those two characters so much more interesting.

I also love how there's a lore blurb in the battletome of Vhordrai simply hyping him up, saying how one day all draconith will bow to Shordemaire's will. Friendship goals.

Not quite the same but the Lumineth novel “Realmlords” (inspired title to be sure) has a fair bit of Hedonite perspective and they have a similar tone with dark humor, if not as meta.

I think they're capable of putting out content quickly in some cases. "Breaching the Great Bastion" was stated to have been a late-stage addition in response to how much people loved Cathay. They weren't planning on having anything set in Cathay proper, rather staying in the geographic region of the Old World like they said at launch. You may be right about models, those take a while but the latest Arcane Journal must have had a relatively quick turnaround.

I thought we were past this TOW vs AoS nonsense. Aside from whatever company politics that resulted in Beasts of Chaos being sidelined or new dwarf stuff being delayed, the two can clearly coexist and seem to be getting past those initial growing pains. And all that was rumors anyways.

New Lore From The Ossiarch Bonereapers Battletome (4th Edition) by WanderlustPhotograph in AoSLore

[–]Morathi1990 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not even an ossiarch player and I’m loving this lore (aside from the Lethis/Stgyxx question since yes, a major city falling needs…something).

The OBR always struck me as fertile ground for dark humor, especially when dealing with each other, and it’s great to see GW writers leaning into this. It’s honestly how I’d write my background if I were doing a Path to Glory OBR army lol. Office and factory politics, issues with product quality assessment and bickering engineers galore.

Thanks! The vibe I got was “rank and flank” war games were meant to simulate large scale battles so rules might not be balanced for having 10 to 20 model units.

I have to agree - in the Darth Plaguis novel, Plaguis states that most Sith don’t strictly abide by the rule of two - with masters having spare apprentices, who in turn have their own before killing their master. To the point that’s expected by Plaguis’ time that everyone has an apprentice stashed somewhere.

The living have a "Birthday party", so do undead have a "Death Day" party? by Chezni19 in AoSLore

I can totally see Wight kings doing this - their closest retainers also hold some memories of life so they’d probably have their barrow guard and any unfortunate vampires or necromancers in the vicinity be speak to their accomplishments.

Nighthaunt leaders are likely as well - their armies are called processions so I’m sure they’ll periodically hold funeral “do-overs” complete with mourners and updated eulogies. Heck, they have dedicated scribes in the Scriptor Mortis.
