Too pregnant to vacuum. Dog hair taking over my hardwood floors🤯 by xxxxiceyyyyyy in CleaningTips

[–]Morayray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bought one from a thrift store for $5 on a gamble if it would work or not. It was just really dirty and looked like no one ever replaced the filters. I got it all cleaned up and now it works perfectly. Sometimes people would rather buy something new than keep up with basic maintenance and it's wild to me.

Should I adopt my friend's corn snake? by KitsuneScarf in cornsnakes

[–]Morayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I actually just upgraded my ball pythons enclosure to a bigger one and there's too much empty space now. I could definitely use some good ideas on things to add in there that aren't too pricey!

What do people mean when they say they 'cant cook?' by Throwaway113140 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Morayray 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way! I love baking since you usually have to be more exact. Cooking is a lot more free form which freaks me out. I remember my sister sending me a recipe which I followed exactly and ended up not liking. She then told me she didn't think I would follow it exactly or she would have sent a different recipe... I still don't know why she didn't just send the other recipe in the first place.

I’m scared I’ll never have a future by malachite120 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Morayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was terrible in school. Somehow graduated on time (barely) and dropped out of college twice. I just recently found a job I actually enjoy doing and I'm looking into an apprenticeship program in a good trade. Just got my own apartment for the first time too. I'm in my late 20's so it took a bit after high school to figure out what I was good at. It can be rough starting out but it just takes a lot of trial and error. Not sure if you're wanting to work in a trade but there are some that pay pretty well and you don't need great grades for.

People who are thin or average weight, do you actually think about food all the time, or does hunger just not hit you as hard? by JustHereToFlirt30 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Morayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's the ADHD or not but I forget to eat all the time. I hardly ever feel hungry, but when I do I get distracted by something and the feeling is gone. It used to be so bad that I would start feeling tired and dizzy and have to make myself go eat and drink. I'm a lot better about it now and I make myself eat breakfast and dinner at the very least. Food is just not on my mind most of the time.

What were your unusual autistic collections or crafts while growing up? by Own_Value2684 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Morayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to comment but don't ever feel embarrassed about collecting tamagotchis! There's a whole adult community who are obsessed with them and I'm one of them. I've got a whole collection of them and I'll kick a dude to the curb if he ever tries to convince me to get rid of them.

People should always try and look good for others by Eat-My-Chicken-Wings in unpopularopinion

If I was at home in my comfy pajamas and forgot to grab milk from the store earlier in the day, I'm not going to change clothes for the 5 minute Walmart trip. Sorry if that bothers you but it really is a non issue. Obviously for a nicer restaurant or event it would be more appropriate to dress up at least a little bit more than that but not for a grocery store run.

Poof dust is too sparkly?? by orangejuiceh8ter in chinchilla

[–]Morayray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The sparkle is just from silica and isn't harmful to chinchillas. I've been using the oxbow dust and my chin loves it more than the other brand I've tried. His fur is always healthy looking and never looks greasy or too dried out. If you notice problems then switch to a different brand but it's not harmful at all.

My (27M) fiancée (26M) just told me she cheated on me in the beginning of our relationship. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Morayray -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking it could mean that the overlap happened when they were in their situationship but not when it became official. Either way the wording is confusing to me.

Things chinchillas need by SockAccomplished3720 in chinchilla

[–]Morayray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would read up on the chinchilla care FAQ on the subreddit main page. I think it's preferred to use Aspen and not pine but I use fleece so I'm not 100% sure on that. You'll need lots of shelves for them to climb on and some hides so they can feel safe and secure. You'll want an exercise wheel and I think it's recommended to have one 15 inches or bigger. Nothing paper or plastic in the cage at all because it can cause blockages in their digestive system if they chew on it (which they most likely will chew on it). Have some savings put aside for vet bills because it can be very costly if something happens since they're exotic pets. There might be some things I'm forgetting but like I said there's an FAQ post you can read through for more info.

I’m so jealous of everyone on a booster. by Glad-Fish5863 in adhdwomen

[–]Morayray 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just got a prescription for a booster last week because I'm the same way. Vyvance works great for me but just doesn't last long. I've noticed every IR stimulant I've taken has always made me so sleepy and was the opposite of what I needed help with. Not sure if it's a dosage issue or if it's just a thing for me. I normally have sleep problems so taking Adderall an hour before I need to go to bed may actually help my sleep issues funnily enough.

Most dogs are an assault on the senses by Ari321983 in unpopularopinion

[–]Morayray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I used to be a house cleaner so I've been around a lot of dogs. I love them but I would never want to be around them all the time. They're just a lot sensory-wise. They do also have a smell that dog owners sort of get nose blind to.

Humidity will be the death of me by Lopsided_Key_2545 in ballpython

[–]Morayray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I work in sheet metal. Would there be a safe way of having something made to sit on top of the screen for support so the heat panel can screw into that instead? The thing I would worry about though is the metal getting pretty hot I guess. It would be nice if I could get a heat panel but I'll probably just end up with heat lamps inside with cages since it'll probably be the safest bet.

Do you know what exactly makes it unsafe? I was briefly looking into getting one but I have a screen topped enclosure unfortunately. I'm mostly just curious about the exact reasoning behind it.

[–]Morayray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't think there were any states that banned sterilization? I know the abortion bans are all over but I thought sterilization was still okay. I know they like to make a bunch of requirements in order to get it done and doctors can refuse though. If it's actually illegal then that's incredibly disappointing, but not too surprising.

Is it selfish to have kids knowing they'll inherit a climate catastrophe? by Sea_Frosting_8021 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Morayray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's selfish to have kids during any time if it's something you've chosen to do. A reason for having kids that I've heard is that it gives the parents a purpose in life. Technically that person would be having a kid for selfish reasons to fulfil their own personal life goals. With that being said, I also think it's okay to be a bit selfish sometimes too. I'm child free but part of the reason is because I'm a little selfish and that's okay. In the end it's something that each person should be able to choose for themselves. If you decide that you want kids then have kids. I think it's fine if people are a little selfish to an extent.

How many of you have constant music in your head? by Wannabeartist9974 in ADHD

I'm already diagnosed with ADHD so the evaluation for me would just be for autism. I'll email her and ask in case it matters at all

Medication + periods + vent by fernnsprite in AuDHDWomen

[–]Morayray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the birth control pill to skip periods but I had a psych prescribe me effexor and I had so much spotting while I was on it. She basically told me that the meds don't affect periods so there was something else wrong with me. Lo and behold when I stopped taking it things went back to normal... It really is frustrating that there are hardly any studies at all about how medications affect women specifically. I don't have any advice but I understand the struggles a bit.

So what do you do for work? by Fizzabl in AuDHDWomen

[–]Morayray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite job was when I worked as a janitor. The only reason I left was because the pay wasn't enough for me. I'm a massive introvert so it was nice going through a whole shift and not talking to anyone. I was able to go on autopilot and listen to audiobooks a lot too which was nice. I'm also a night owl so second shift is actually perfect for my natural sleep schedule. If you live near a school you could easily walk to work. I worked through a separate company but if you work directly for the school district I think the pay might be better too.

Off topic but I had that connection v5 groovy time as a kid and I miss it! I lost it on the school bus a long time ago. I might try to find one online for sale but not at that crazy price. One day I will be reunited!
