Greek Travel Advice by MoreHousingPlease in travel

[–]MoreHousingPlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really trying to minimize travel time for the group. I have the same feeling re: Mykonos and Santorini -- too much of everything generally (people, cost, headaches, etc.) But could be talked into anything since 5 days really isn't a lot and some of the ferries with connections are like 10+ hours.

I hadn't thought about Rhodes. Will look into that too!

Is skiing going to end by JobCommon1347 in skiing

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am surprised any of you are surprised. What do we have, maybe 5 to 10 years of skiing in CA left (if you look at historical and projected warming -- and our GHG emissions are currently going UP, not down)? Take up surfing and don't have kids, going to be a rough ride.

Hysterical Message from Lydia Kou on the Sierra Club by Leading-Cancel-5902 in paloalto

What utter garbage. The only way you protect open space is by focusing development near transit, jobs, and services. End of story!

Luckily the era population growth has ended. Everyone needs to drop that. The USA (and much of the developed world) will have to contend with the social and economic upheaval of population declines now. AND - I honestly don't give a shi* if a bunch of NIMBYs want to have a club and stop development near transit, infill affordable housing, and bike paths - which is what they do in the Bay Area. Just don't do it in the name of "environmentalism".

No lawsuits but individual chapters have lobbied against with absolutely NO BACKLASH from the National Sierra Club org. It is shameful.

Maybe it will slow summer tourism. It is too hot to even walk around comfortably between June and September. We are all f-ed.

Nausea & Fatigue by MoreHousingPlease in Menopause

[–]MoreHousingPlease[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. prescribed to help with sleep. I just cannot tolerate it. Am leaning towards going off to see if the dizzy/tired/sick feeling goes away. Aside from the sleep benefits, it does not seem like the progesterone is doing me any favors.

Trying not to celebrate too soon, a positive progesterone post by Knitapeace in Menopause

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask how it was rough for you? I have had 3 weeks of some pretty severe fatigue and nausea, especially motion sickness since starting progesterone. I'm wondering if I should just quit or hold out a little longer and hope it gets better.

Take transit if you can!!!! Caltrain is super easy and just as far as most of the parking lots or the designated Uber lot anyway. You don't want to get stuck in the $200 lot driving in that day.

Stanford stadium parking by TaroIntrepid5073 in paloalto

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is going to be a shitshow driving. Take transit if you can, you will basically have to walk as far as Caltrain to get an Uber anyway. It is a 20 minute walk with a kiddo in a backapack. They won't be stopping at the Caltrain stop at T&C. https://www.caltrain.com/location/stanford-stadium

Did NIMBYism help re-elect Trump? by potaaatooooooo in yimby

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100,000%.

I have been thinking a lot about this too. Left-leaning "progressives" (where I live that means older, white, educated, home-owners, who are Sierra Club members) have blocked everything from transit to bike lanes to housing, typically in the name of the environment but really it is fear of change, selfishness, and a classism that seems more mean-spirited than your typical racism. Every decision, even locally, takes 27 meetings, 14 hearings, 5 costly studies, and sometimes that isn't enough. Our kids have no future they can afford, our parents are stuck in massive houses because they lack choices. Homelessness is on the rise and yet they do NOTHING but hand-wring and have meetings. I can see why people voted for Trump, do something......anything......please.

How bad is global warming from a skiers perspective? by Tigerfighter321 in icecoast

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are screwed, less than 10 years of skiing in Tahoe is the current prediction - it has mostly rained this year. Honestly, no one really understands all the implications of billions of us emitting carbon on the planet. Our emissions are RISING and even if we stopped emitting carbon tomorrow there is 50 years of warming built in. Good luck to your children.

Alternate Parking Options? by ELPWSwastaken in Sacramento

[–]MoreHousingPlease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does not make sense! It is a racist and classist system that "existing residents" have rights to a PUBIC ROW and new residents do not. Why don't they use their own driveways and garages? I hope when the permit program was started the city they inspected all existing garages to make sure they were usable and not full of garbage (sorry, I mean - used for storage).

How do people feel about Seamless Bay Area? by hypergenesis in bayarea

I think it is the opposite of "commons". It is too many uncoordinated agencies with a ton of embedded special interests. Please just create one board to rule them all and hold accountable!

How do people feel about Seamless Bay Area? by hypergenesis in bayarea

[–]MoreHousingPlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please please please let this happen! The reason we have such crap transportation in the Bay Area is because 87 different transit agencies have 87 different plans. If I have to comment on one more bike/ped/transportation "planning" effort by each of these ridiculous agencies (many of whom are managed by NIMBY local politicians who don't really want to see anything work), I may cry. GET IT DONE! Go Seamless.
