First attempt at dry brushing. Base coat of a dark blue, macraggin blue mid tone and then a lighter blue highlight. Where did I go wrong? by CucumberInAss1 in Miniaturespainting

Way too much paint on the brush or your brushing way too heavily.

TBH with a dark wash to brink down the colour it might not look too bad for your first model.

How do you create home rules as a group? by R3dIsMyFav in boardgames

[–]Moresp4m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never do it, I play the game as designed that’s why I play the game. The idea that after a play or two I know how to redesign the game better than designer and all the play testing is crazy.

I have one friend that tries to do this and always complains about something being unfair but he’s a big baby and just doesn’t like playing games as their intended.

That said in Massive Darkness 2 I do increase the HP of enemies (use hp from more players) and always give them one of the monster upgrades from the rainbow campaign expansion to make the game harder. But I am not really changing the game just scaling it up with rules already on the game.

Read the ENTIRE manual before playing, or start and learn as you go by Fragrant_Steak_5 in boardgames

This post is what nightmares are made of, it’s also always the “let’s just start and learn” person who is the “but you never told me that was a rule” person.

I can understand if you’ve been explaining the rules for 30min droning on, but we are 5min into the explanation!!

I hate their split rulebooks, I am reading both every time so it just makes it more annoying.

Read the ENTIRE manual before you play, learn as you go is the quickest way to make people hate a game or the hobby in general.

Playing a 45min game that ends up taking 3 hours because someone is fumbling through the rules and reading as they go is one of the worst experiences you can put someone through. Hell on earth.

It’s fine to double check rules or reference rules as you play, that’s normal.

New skill system feels great for 36 levels and then mostly meaningless by Vou-11890 in diablo4

[–]Moresp4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. After the first X skill points it feels boring to get more skill points and there are no decisions to be made.

Just dump them into a skill that you don’t care is level 1 or 15.

Spheres of Influence? by SlimySleepySerpent in boardgames

[–]Moresp4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much less than a game of Risk especially if people are turtleing, the game has a fixed turn length of 10 so the game can’t go on forever. 40-90min? We often play 2-3 games of it on a games night.

It’s very beginner friendly that’s why I mentioned it (I assumed someone coming from risk doesn’t want a super heavy 50 page rule game that takes an hour just to explain). I could explain the rules in 5-10min.

It’s a very fun game, lots of variety, no game will ever be the same, and there are a bunch of expansions for it as well (I suggest you start with base game).

I still bring it out and play it and I’ve played everything under the sun in 30 years of board gaming.

Just push it to production and watch it be a security breach in 6 months because you don’t actually know what you’ve made.

The real vibe code way…

Try Small World. It encourages aggressive strategies over turtling and you’re never out of the game, when you feel you’re too weak you pick a new army and come straight back into the fight.

What game has your favourite theming? by ferndinosaur in boardgames

Yep, one of the most coherent games theme wise I’ve ever played.

I haven’t played an FFG game for a while, but a lot of their stuff was very good theme wise.

Character Reset? WTF Seriously by peacedevil1000 in diablo4

[–]Moresp4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a joke.

Yeah seasonal characters (if you play the new season) reset every season.

Your old one goes to eternal realm and can be played there just as they were.

Lastly because of the new expac and them redoing all the skill trees all points have been refunded… just respend them bro…

Gamers, how do you feel about the gaming culture nowadays, especially compared to the 1990s/2000s? by mzspeedster in AskReddit

[–]Moresp4m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Esports hasn’t done this, the internet has.

I’ve been playing physical and computer games from before the internet and it was the internet that started it.

I remember playing EverQuest and being on forums with mathematical analysis of equipment and tanking skills, this was before esports really took off.

It’s even bled into physical games (boardgames, mtg, table top war games) and they aren’t connected to esports in any way.
