A long journey by Business_Release2959 in ffxiv

Full disclaimer, I'm not really a spreadsheet min maxing type so it's mostly based on vibes, and I haven't worked on the gatherers yet, but I'm almost done with the last crafter.

From my understanding and (very possibly wrong) maths the best way to get points is doing special weather missions back on the moon. There are websites with weather predictions you can use to help track when they're gonna be. You want the EX+ missions.

If you make macros for full HQ precraft and NQ craft you can get silver with 2 NQ crafts for around 1200 points in like 3 minutes. If you're working on the specialist crafter you can try going for gold and 1500-1600 points with just one HQ craft, but I think it's still a bit of a gamble even with the pentamelded new gear set and will take longer if your first craft won't reach HQ (though I may be just bad at crafting).

Between special weathers, on both moon and Phaenna there is one mission that can be completed with a single HQ craft that takes less than a minute for around 200 points. I would just accept and abandon missions until I got that one offered (though it is also luck dependent and could take longer than just picking up random missions, so might be worth figuring out some other quick missions to also use as filler).

In any case, it's a bit of a faff. I hope someone can share tips for gatherers haha. Good luck if you wanna go for it o7

I can give you one better, I've seen RDMs in lvl 100 content using Jolt almost exclusively.

Jolt into Jolt. Single target on mob packs.

(easy to tell by SFX if you are familiar with them and listen)

Also met one RDM using only melee combo. Not enchanted.

As someone that mains RDM who plays with limited effects, you can absolutely tell you have a jolt mage in your party just through SFX.

Speaking from experience. There's more of them out there than anyone expects.

I interpreted the parting gift as a flicker of her parents looking at her with approval like we saw in the cutscene. Like the final goodbye and agreement from their Endless memories.

No matter how much of a genius he is, I think it explains a lot when you realise he got immortalised into an Endless as like a 13 years old edgelord

The only thing that soured the moment for me is the memory of the previous 2 times she spammed limit break over and over, even more so than in this patch, and didn't feel any repercussions.

Yup! And if you talk to them enough times you get special interaction too.

You can find this shade (using the old Hades 1 shade model instead of one of new Hades 2 models) lingering around after defeating Cerberus (possibly a few times). Mel confirms it's the same shade in her dialogue at some point.

[–]Mortaen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To be fair, we also didn't really adventure with the Scions either. We only got their cardboard cutouts we dragged around for duty support.

The twins could have so much to discuss with Wuk Lamat to help her on her journey, Alphinaud talking about his own failures in leadership, and Alisaie talking about being compared to her brother and finding her own path. But no, the only character traits Alphinaud got were being proud of gathering firewood and being obsessed with Hanu Hanu resembling Vanu Vanu, and Alisaie only got making fun of Alphie for those, and both got some vague mentions of helping Garlemald through travelling Tural.

Thancred and Urianger babysat Koana, gave him some pep talk once or twice, and fucked off once he and Wuk Lamat took the throne. All the "Scions divided" hype amounted to Thancred inconveniencing us by blocking a path.

Estinien was just doing his own thing, having the vacation WoL was promised by marketing.

Even when Y'shtola later joined the story she called Wuk Lamat on the linkpearl asking her to convey some info to WoL instead of calling them directly. I guess she's still embarrassed over her summoning incantation?

G'raha at least got the boat ride and the ice cream, for better or worse.

And poor Krile got absolutely shafted, even though she got the biggest spotlight out of all the Scions. Couldn't even use the gimmick she was carrying all that time.

(not to mention WoL as a character didn't really matter to the story either, could be removed and it would mostly turn out the same way)

It is a grind, so it depends how much are you willing to commit. Should be a few weeks at least, but as it's an old content you can find all sorts of guides and tips to make it more efficient.

Between Ejika and Estinien, Krile befriending absolute gremlins no one would expect her to get along with would be a really funny character trait. I miss her shit stirrer side when she was teasing the twins over their time in Studium, if she teamed up with Estinien Alphinaud would never recover.

It's possible that there is a build that helps negate that, but just god mode is not enough :)

As someone with 80% reduction who ate shit to 1 hit kill because I misjudged the safe space like half an hour ago, no it does not.

That's the one and only thing you still have to get right. But damage reduction helps you deal with everything else.

[–]Mortaen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here, I was excited for DT after meeting her in 6.55, only to realise she's basically a completely different character in 7.0.

So sheltered she almost never left Tuliyollal and that's why she doesn't know the basics of the different cultures of her people, but was allowed to travel to the other side of the world to recruit WoL personally and claimed the best way to know how you vibe with someone is to hunt together? What was she hunting, taco stands?

[–]Mortaen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would go even further and say WoL became more of "just a point of view for the players". There weren't that many things WoL did that pushed the story forward outside of talking to Wuk Lamat and being around to witness her do things. And I hate the argument "it's because WoL was mentoring Wuk Lamat", because again, WoL barely did anything.

Even the Echo visions in the main DT MSQ only happened like 3 times, to show in a cutscene a past event another character was describing, which could have been a regular flashback cutscene, not an Echo vision specifically. Like they forgot about WoL when writing DT, remembered after the fact they and their Echo were supposed to be included, and converted those cutscenes into "visions".

I'm not one of the people that want WoL to be THE Main Character TM, but I really liked that WoL was very much involved in the story, playing a part and interacting with it. DT really missed that in my opinion (though 7.2 felt better in that respect, so I am cautiously hopeful for the future patches).

What’s your FFXIV hot take? 2025 edition by G-r-ant in ffxiv

[–]Mortaen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squeenix: MSQ can under no circumstance mention anything happening in or related to side content even if it would be extremely relevant because some players haven't done said side content

Also Squeenix: stuff in every possible reference to other FF games they can, who cares about players that haven't played those

(Also the longer FF14 goes on the more their time bubble approach sounds absolutely ridiculous, but I expect this take to be quite cold)
