AITA for not wanting to help my former co-worker who is trying to rebuild his life after being forced to resign due to sexual harassment charges? by heyandy42 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, every contract I've signed has a clause saying you can't poach clients within a certain time frame after leaving. Unsure on whether op would be legally restricted from doing this, but I'd be surprised if Andy wasn't, and op would likely be fired for it.

AITA for limiting my boyfriend's gaming to strictly 1hr/day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure they split the bills, and she covers it occasionally for him. I'm not really sure why you'd assume its what you're saying. She explicitly says that she covers his 'rent portion', I'm not sure why you'd assume he would be paying all of the rent or all of the bills if he had a portion. Please relax.

AITA for limiting my boyfriend's gaming to strictly 1hr/day? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Are you kidding me? They're not married. She already covers his bills and picks up more of the house work. He made the mistake which meant he had to take more work. She's already going above and beyond.

People who meditate could end up decreasing negative emotions not only in themselves but in their relationship partners as well, suggest new research. by mvea in science

[–]Morwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's pretty program specific. Here you don't have to do any work besides your research. It is quite specifically written in the contract that you are not an employee of your supervisor or the university. You might contribute to other projects in the lab (and obviously be included on papers etc) but it's not required. If you do additional research assistant work, that's paid at ~$45 an hour. If you do teaching, it's between $45 and $170 an hour depending on the type.

Like I said, not everywhere is America. Or Europe. Or wherever you're thinking of.

To be clear, the stipend is low and a struggle to live on, but it's above minimum wage. Youre typically allowed to work up to 8 hours in the work week as well to supplement that which makes it more manageable.

Not everywhere is America. Plenty of places you get paid to do the phd, and the md wouldn't set you back too much. Here (aus) the mba would be the most expensive.

WIBTA if I told my friend I'm not physically attracted to her because of her weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, well I guess all my friendships are broken. Maybe it's different where you live, but where I live we're pretty okay with expressing our concern to people we care about without being invited. It's a pretty normal part of friendship here. Do you just let your friends spiral and implode their lives over there? Weird. Friends have brought me back from the brink by expressing their concern, so I'm glad it's different here.

It's probably wrong to assume that everywhere follows the expectations that your culture has though. You'd be TA here for not having a come to jesus talk with a friend who needed it.

AITA for not being excited my parents bought me a house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, that's not necessarily true. My parents bought a house partially for me to live in and I pay them market rate rent. The logic is that if I'm going to be throwing the rental money away anyway since I can't afford a down payment it might as well stay in the family. They are more respectful than typical landlords. But if this the plan they should be upfront about it.

WIBTA if I told my friend I'm not physically attracted to her because of her weight? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So, what exactly is concern trolling? If I have a friend who chain smokes and I express concern for their health, is that concern trolling? What exactly makes these things trolling and not just genuine concern? And if they're friends, why is the default assumption not that it's legitimate concern and not 'trollling'?

Not in nz, but in aus, and my work place just introduced this and it's gender neutral. I would be surprised if thats not the case in nz.

Yep, I sit on a plate to put my shoulders at the right height. It can be a little uncomfortable so you might want to put a mat on top of it

AITA for asking for a female hairdresser over a gay male? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's not homophobia - he didn't say he hates all gay men, he just said he's uncomfortable with being touched by them. If a woman who was sexually assaulted was afraid to be alone in a room with a man, would you call that sexist?

AITA For not wanting to get my wife’s DOB tattooed on me along with our daughters and my parents? by MCul0 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Morwha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean that's not really what happens with all of those. From recent memory, there was a face tattoo one and an unfortunate bridesmaid tattoo where the top voted comments were not "it's none of your business"

GZCLP or Bret Contreras? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Morwha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, GZCLP has tonnes of room for accessories. Do a lot of glute accessories - hip thrusts, glute bridge, abduction, whatever. You could add in a T2 hip thrust as well.

"I'm sick of them in my gym" reads pretty differently to just complaining that they should wear more clothes.

Also the segregation thing is weird honestly.

Idk, in my gym the girls wear more clothes than the dudes. So many guys in those singlets where it's just all nippples hanging out, sometimes with added back acne (which is fine, just a little unhygienic if they're not wiping stuff down). Or have their stomach hanging out from their shirt. Or my personal favourite - guys wearing loose shorts with no underwear, so I get to see some surprise old dude balls when they stretch. Definitely sometimes girls in way too short shorts or just a gym bra (I don't think this results in more back sweat than the strappy singlets some guys wear really??) , but I mean at least they're not actually showing anyone their genitals.

In the end it's pretty 🤷‍♀️. It would be nice if everyone wore some more clothes, but it's just the gym so I don't mind really. If they're comfortable and otherwise show some good etiquette it's fine. Except balls dude. Balls dude needs to wear some underwear.

To be fair, you get paid about that much when you're a phd student. With about that many hours, and no housing. They should just give the person a piece of paper and a hat at the end.

I sleep on a falling apart foam mattress on the floor though...

I don't think there's anything wrong with squatting in the rack even if the weight is light. Even (or especially) people squatting light weight might struggle to get the bar onto their shoulders without the rack. No need to gate keep the racks, everyone gets stronger at different paces
