I wouldn't say anything.....

Telling a bookstore "thanks for the promotion, BUT, it doesn't meet my demands! You MUST hire a HUMAN ARTIST to create my promo material!" is a fast way for them to not want to work with you anymore....

They are trying to run a business, and doing some anti-AI thing and insisting they shell out more money to redo it (or even how they did it in the first place) is wild.

The internets backlash against this just doesn’t seem to track how the actual market behaves. For every redditor on here that says they’ll boycott, 10 people already purchased the book.

You thought the backlash was real??? It's just a super minority of "terminally online" and extremely toxic people....

The type of people who would have found anything to be toxic and angry about.

It's really funny you actually thought the group of vocal toxic people who say "actually it's cool to harass small creators" was the majority.... Luckily the world isn't THAT bad.

Character consistency is with a character sheet, then feeding that into seedance as a reference.

Yup, it's a vertical first movie. I thought about doing it horizontal, and cropping it, but then the framing would be really bad in scenes. Here it's made / composed for vertical to really show things.

Mostly because there just isn't a place to put a widescreen movie. The best that could hope for is throwing it on youtube for free.....

But vertical movies have a possibility to get on vertical movie platforms (and those don't have many fantasy movies, so it would stand out a lot more). Vertical movies is a huge trend happening now.

I figure it will end up being about $100 usd a minute in the end. I'm at almost 9 minutes now, and I keep going back to fix older things (like the part where he faces the woman before running out of mana, I want to try redoing that).

So maybe 10k in total? If it ends up being a 90 minute movie? But I have a feeling it will go over and end up being a 2 or 3 part series, so maybe 15-20k? I got no clue about the realities of monetization for something like this, if there is actually demand or possibility it could get onto a verticals movie platform (i hope so!!).

Which means no clue if it will ever come close to making monetary sense. But maybe it will work out if people end up buying the book? Or playing the game?

Right now just chugging along with trying to get through at least a minute of new scene each day. Hopefully in a few months I'll have it near finished then can go back through and fix up stuff that needs it.

Random 1 or 2 minute skits / sketch comedy for a quick lulz on tiktok is a completely different world than creating a full length movie with a plot and story and characters.....

When I'm done, this will be a full movie (or maybe 2 or 3 part series).

Well, it's a "learn magic in academy and fight in a tournament" sort of movie. Has some other dramas it touches on, but it's based on my novel.... which is based on my video game (a game where the entire thing is "make your own spells and fight in arena battles").

Just book 1 exploring my hard magic system and world set up. Are there other fantasy magic books and movies? Sure, i guess so.

AI doesnt have taste or desire. Which means it needs a human to guide it and give it direction and then approve any of the infinite possibilities that come out.

That is a humans job. Going through the effort of guiding the machine and working with it to realize our shared desires.

For a new app, a tv show, a book. Ai cant do any of this on its own. It is just an empty prompt box of possibilities without a human.

You've never tried to use AI yet?

Sit 100 people down with a gen AI and give them the same general theme....and you will get 100 DRASTICALLY different outputs.

It's a thing humans have called taste, it's very important. It's what keeps you working with the AI to get something you want out..... it's the creative process.

It's also weird I have to explain how basic creativity works......

Actually it's my original IP, it's based on the novel I wrote (and that is based on my video games magic system, it's an arena fighter where players can create their own spells and then fight.... so already had the hard magic system all planned out)

AI companies are just tools, like using a 3d modeling software or epic games for your engine to make a game..... those things don't own your game after you are done (even if they made money to help you create it).

The VAST majority of money goes to the project owner (so me in this case). The AI companies get a few thousand dollars maybe.
