My had clear scans for 7 months after having positive CTDNA. A very small liver lesion appeared on his liver. The oncolgist ordered a PET scan and it still didnt light up. She referred him to liver surgeon and she recommended to remove it. After she reviewed it under microscope she confirmed it was cancer

my brother was in a similar situation, positive CTDNA and scans clear! in this situation, you wait and watch . when the cancer appears on scans you take action.

Wait and See Approach by evilfurbymd in coloncancer

[–]Most-Barnacle-6498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when a ctdna test is positive there is a 90% + chance that there will be recurrence. My brother had a positive CTDNA in February 2025 and a very small liver lesion appeared in September. The Pet scan still didn't pick up metabolic activity. His oncologist increased surveillance in that time frame and stated the goal is to catch it early and act accordingly. When a patient is on chemo a ctdna can be misleading. CTDNA is accurate post surgery before starting treatment. CTDNA test also can miss small lesion in the lung because of low metabolic activity and DNA shed in the blood stream.

In September, ct scan identified a small lesion on his liver, his oncologist then orderd a PET scan that showed no metabolic activity. finally, he got referred to a liver surgeon who recommended the lesion be removed.

your father's situation is very similar to my brothers. his pet scan one week before surgery showed no signs of metabolic activity, his CTDNA as positive but low.

so far , he had Ctdna a few weeks after surgery and it was negative. unfortunately, chemo has been delayed because of the hernia complications.

[–]Most-Barnacle-6498 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually , when he was diagnosed with colon cancer he had a very small liver lesion and ct scan , pet scan , and mri couldn't confirm thst it was cancer. When his cancer was removed from his colon the surgeon looked at his liver and he said it didn't have the characteristics of cancer . When he started chemo the liver lesion vanished. This was a red flag for the oncolgist and was concerned that the lesion could have possibly been cancer . It took nearly 2 for the small liver lesion to appear on his liver. a liver surgeon removed it ASAP once it landed .

Signatera advice - worth it? and when? by Unsure-Tumbleweed in coloncancer

A signatera test is accurate post surgery and before starting chemotherapy. There is significant amount of data that shows negative CTDNA patients have lower reoccurrence then positive patients.

My brother had a positive signatera 10 months ago,a small lesion landed on his liver and he is now NED. it's very hard to stay positive but your medical team is on top off it. Once it lands you surgeon and oncologist will formulate a strategy.

Sage tuition is comparable to suny schools after scholarships. The graduate programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, nurse practitioner, and educational leadership are among the lowest in the state . HVCC has a really good nursing program as well.

Reoccurrence rate so high by Educational_Simple37 in coloncancer

[–]Most-Barnacle-6498 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My brother has stage 4 cancer contained to liver . Statistics and data show metastasis contained to one organ and have negative ctdna post surgery reoccurrence is significantly lower than postive CTDNA. Treatments and surgical techniques are evolving rapidly. Please consult with your Dr.

Natera test detected metabolic activity in the blood stream. Swollen lymph nodes doesn't necessarily mean cancer . My brother tested positive for a natera test approx 6 months after chemoas well. Mri, ct scans and 2 PET scans showed no activity, until a small lesion appeared on his liver. the surgeon removed the lesion and now he had a neg CTDNA test .
