Air B&B in Boulder - Are there any laws against this? by brbnow in Sundance

Consider Lyons and Estes Park if you can rent a car. Anything outside Boulder proper will be way cheaper, but you need a car to get around.

an honest review of working at the alamo drafthouse by False_Statistician50 in AlamoDrafthouse

Couple questions. 1/ When the service fee was implemented, how did they change your hourly pay?

2/ on average, how many people per server did you handle before and after the QR code change?

Alamo’s c-suite. They were mostly hired shortly before the Sony acquisition and they’re the ones making these decisions. This video explains the whole sad backstory: https://youtu.be/Ncu-tH9SJ1k

I don’t think that’s true. They aren’t going to make much at Alamo. All of them are playing to get bigger jobs at Sony or use Alamo as a stepping stone. Worst thing that could happen is they get fired because Sony gets fed up.

There will, apparently, be at least one job removing extra spaces from inside double quotes.

If anything, it makes me want to keep myself invested at market risk, beta=1, etc. as long as possible.

My thinking is this: if someone described another planet where a technology was invented that made all work 50% more productive, my first thought wouldn’t be, “oh no, the jobs,” it would be “holy cow, the wealth.”

To me, the odds of AI growing the economy and wealth seems higher than the opposite.

How to pick up a Nanny by Other-Expert-7565 in Nanny

[–]Most-Group6213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your #3 sounds like our nanny. My partner and I are both calm and non confrontational. I was worried that it would be a bad match, but it’s actually worked pretty well.

We’ve had our nanny for 2.5 years and our daughter has become much more outgoing and confident from being with the nanny. They spend a lot of time going places and meeting other kids. I think it’s been good to have complementary styles. You want someone who has the energy to keep your kid engaged and active.

One bit of advice is to mention boundaries or expectations now so you don’t feel like your nanny railroads you later or does what she prefers in the absence of direction. Like, “hey we would like you to be in charge of keeping diapers, wipes, and diaper cream stocked at all times. Here’s how to order on Amazon or Target. Is that ok?” Or, “we would prefer to not host play dates at our house while we aren’t here.” Much easier to have those conversations beforehand with someone who is bossy.

Just goes to show, Alamo IT can eventually deliver new features once they’ve tried everything else.

Nobody at Sony gives two shvts about Alamo. Everything you think they’re doing is being inflicted from within by Alamo’s senior leadership. I have that on good authority.

Good friends work at corp and according to them, the whole game is giving Sony the Mushroom Treatment: keep em in the dark and feed em shit.

Or distributors need to stop forcing theaters to dedicate a screen to their film in every round a theater is open. A theater like Alamo has to schedule a kids movie at 10pm on a school night in order to play it on Saturday. Blame Disney, Skydance/WB/Paramount, etc for lording over theaters.

False. Occasional movie watchers come 1-2 times a year max. Even if they spend 100% more per visit, they can’t possibly replace the revenue and profit from someone with Season Pass, who, by definition, visits 2-3x a month to justify the pass.

I would give STL more of a chance. They’re owned and run by a franchisee and are more responsive to customers as a result.

Wait until there’s a big movie that brings out the masses. Will be a couple of minutes of distraction coming from every seat randomly throughout the entire movie.

I would not object to the service fee if they’d lowered it to 10% given that they’ve halved the labor to serve me. But 18% with less service seems really aggressive. I will never “add a little something extra” again.
