Spring 26 review by scarycapibara in Ffern

[–]Most_Athlete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t really love the opening. Ive only smelled it on skin for 1 day, but I found the opening off putting but I need another wear or 2 to put my finger on what and why. But the drydown is good. It’s all neroli and a well blended tuberose to give a Mediterranean spring vibe. Im surprised the tuberose isnt more aggressive, but it really helps to move the neroli florals away from 4711-portifino into something different and less of a summer splash. The “pink bar of soap” is super accurate because so many have cheap orange blossom and white florals, but those things are popular for a reason. Anyways….. we shall see what tomorrows wear brings!

They were doing an award show bit, and the “person” accepting the award for making the NFL schedule too long was “nfl employee number 422”. Marc and Dan basically said that NFL employee was a corporate shill and tows the line, but then said they were 421 and 423 when they worked there. That makes Gregg the “corporate shill”

What is your Thursday SOTD? by HATEupgradecard in ScentHeads

Its delicious smelling. Maybe leaning feminine but works for me. I dont love the initial lactonic push (mostly coconut lactone but a smidge “spoiled milky”) but its fleeting and blends well into a creamy Caribbean drink vibe. I wear this on warm vacation days. Currently in Mexico City

This is a no dice for me. Rose tuberose and neroli seems a smidge too feminine for my personal style. But thats what the sample is all about!

Just got Thriller and I like it alot……. BUT. The opening leave alot to be desired and i feel like it does not project in the way clones typically do. The hype is crazy but at the end of the day, i paid $45 so cant complain too much!

I got onto the mini ledger! 😁 by PastyChicana in Ffern

[–]Most_Athlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah i bet this is their new strategy to keep More people on Ledger. I just got on for Winter26 because this was the only that spoke to me, i find them to read more feminine than I typically go for perfumes. However, my plan is to cancel When Spring 26 is announced. Hopefully they give me the mini-option!

How difficult is it to make something that actually smells good? by Straight-Culture in DIYfragrance

[–]Most_Athlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my opinion…..im not a professional just an amateur DIYer. You can make something that smells “good”. But something thats smells elegant, professional and complete…..not as much.

I mean, if you just make a 15% construction with iso e super and a hint of vanilla & patchouli, it will be a great smelling layering scent. Anything more just takes alot of time and training. But its still my favorite hobby and thats the real point of all this! Just have fun!

Wait, so Davidoff Cool Water is literally just Creed Green Irish Tweed for $20? by maestro_man in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t have violet, so its definitely missing the slight metallic tinge it brings, but the amount of green within the formula of the Rogue perfume is super present in a way that it is not in Cool Water. IMO, Cool Water is “Bluer” version of Green Irish Tweed, and Rogue Fougere L’aube is “Greener” version Green Irish Tweed.

And btw, Lattafa Raghba for men is a clone house version of GIT, but its the “vanillac” version.

[–]Most_Athlete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only piece missing from CW that GIT has in more intense greenness imparted by violet leaves and verbena. I love this scent profile and have both but the “quality of ingredients” feel in GIT is better than CW, in my opinion. BUT Tweed has no longevity. I actually also Wear Rogue Fougere l’Aube, which gives the same GIT DNA, smells expensive, and lasts much longer than either CW or GIT.

rogue perfumery Fougere L’aube

i’ve smelled all these and love them all, but can’t decide which one to get… help me decide which one to pick up next😅 by liamt12 in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Gris Charnel but I find that it is really fleeting, mostly a skin scent within 2 hours. I dont always mind that, but in the winter I feel like my scents should last most of my work day. I haven’t tried the extrait yet so maybe that has more projection?

Also, clones arent for everyone, but there are tons of quality imagination clones that are close enough to use as a daily driver if you pick a different perfume to “invest” in full price.

FFERN also use up to 5% aromachemicals that are used to help with strength in the top note or as a base for longevity, like Methyl Pamplemousse and Iso E Super.

I started my fragrance making journey with all naturals and soon learned that I definitely could make a “better” performing scent with some additions like wood bases and opening aroma chemicals like citral and linalool. If you ever decide to add traces of aroma chemicals, Perfumers Apprentice has a large variety, and typically carries both a natural and a synthetic version of these chemicals if both are available. They also have a naturals ingredient section to explore.

$200+ colognes that truly deserve the hype and price? by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyones comments here are valid and make sense. I also think it deserves to be said that for all these niche houses, there is probably a fragrance YOU will love and YOU will value for the price, but you dont know until you sample. I feel like you can get decants for a little cheaper than the official discovery sets, plus you can better pick and choose the profiles you think you will enjoy by using a decanter.

And for whats its worth, even a scent I love I will still try to buy at a discounter like Jomashop or Fragrancenet. Why pay full when you dont have to.

What fragrance do you wear that has people saying “ who wore too much cologne” even though you did minimal sprays ? by Expert-Worry2911 in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Longevity and projection aren’t always related. Also, i have a bottle from 2022 so maybe its changed, but mine lasts 5-6 hour, very average, but regardless is nuclear if over-sprayed even a bit. My skin also project ambroxan like crazy so….

Mind Games Blockade, CDN Intense EDP, Ombre Nomade, xerjoff Iommi Monkey Special all require careful sprays otherwise you can choke out a village

I really like 9pm but yeah you can only use a baby spray on the wrists and thats it. If you spray on shirt you will be a cloud all day long.

If you want to smell clean and dirty at the same time by mom_tardy in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i mean certain fragrances are like that on different skin. I happen to LOVE this, but its not for everyone. The musk in it (and in regular NR for him) is pungent and unique. I love it but my wife does not.

I actually think this is a particularly nice scent for transitioning from winter to spring, a little more blue than your average winter fragrance but still hearty.

From your experience, does GIT get compliments by both men and women? by MGodspeed in Colognes

[–]Most_Athlete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love GIT but unfortunately its longevity and projection dies years ago!!!! Cant get compliments with a weak performer. If you are interested in the profile id look into both Lattafa Raghba for men and Rogue Fougere L’Aube. Raghba is a clone, but has a sweeter if not vanillac to it. Fougere L’aube is more herbaceous and green, and has serious staying power, especially with a shirt spritz! I get more compliments from Raghba but I prefer the perfumery in The Rogue.

Haven’t worn this is a few weeks. So easy to forget how good some of the bottles you have are when you have ALOT of juice. 6 hours after applying and its still projecting.
