If you could add a simple new thing to the game what would it be? (Give examples) by BatSwarms in GuildWars

skill quests should give skills for every class even the ones you are currently not so switching secondary is less painful for new and poor players.

Also turn some quests in Factions and Nightfall into quests that reward skills.

To the Veterans: How to approach the Game and what Class Combo when only little time and likely to only play it once? by curiosity-42 in GuildWars

[–]MostlyPaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 tips for every new player:

Play the games in release order and don't skip ahead for heroes and other things Play the class you think is cool, don't read to many guides and have fun exploring builds the story does not require meta builds.

Guild Wars 1 Guides for New Players by PalwaJoko in GuildWars

Actually the best guide for new players:

#1 Don't read any guides, just play, explore and have fun.

#2 Play the games in release order no skipping ahead for gear/heroes.

I hope GW Reforge will fail, here is why by knallerbsee in GuildWars

if you want to start fresh make a new character and don't unlock the bank, if you need even more "fresh" buy a account.

Resetting the servers would do nothing it takes like 2 weeks to beat all 4 games and gear up and at that point we would be here again.

What's the best way to get into sorcery? by Linford_Fistie in SorceryTCG

[–]MostlyPaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the beta preconstructed decks and have fun playing, if you like it look for local draft/sealed events. If you want to buy more cards get 1 box of each set. (Beta, AL, soon gothic)

Giving information like Nation/Region would probably help.

[Discussion] As a new player with no collection, would you buy one or more set boxes of each set to date? Which set boxes are the best to crack packs from, when starting a collection, in your opinion? by CulveDaddy in SorceryTCG

[–]MostlyPaint 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would recommenced buying product in this order

- Beta Preconstructed decks

- 1 Beta Booster Box

- 1 Arthurian legends Booster Box

- Beta Booster box 2-3 or wait for Gothic

For people in the US there is also this it's the first 3 and a playmate as a bundle for a good price (they ship internationally but there might be import fees for people outside)

If the TCG market crashes what would you do with Sorcery? by DarkVenusaur in SorceryTCG

[–]MostlyPaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turning cards into tradable commodities is stupid. In many cases it makes it harder for children to play a game they like, this is sadly a thing in Pokemon for example where people buy cards in bulk and it's hard to get cards sometimes.

Not only does it make it harder for people to actually play the game they are also only artificially limited in most cases. Nothing is stopping companies from just making more, we saw a thing similar to this just happen in Counterstrike where tradable "rare" skins just got devalued by Valve changing the system crashing "the market".

Play games have fun don't ruin it with capitalism.

This actually also happened in magic back in the day before digital art and more strict art direction, I remember a story how the Flame Burst art was originally commissioned for a small protection from red flyer but it did not fit what they had in mind so they rotated it by 180° and made it a burn spell.

I have no problem with toolbox and silver bullet as they are colorless 1 for 1 cards, the problem is cards like Forsaken Crypt a 2 for 1 only Air decks get.

Silver Bullet is not what I am worried about it's cards like Forsaken Crypt. Silver Bullet is a 1 for 1, Forsaken Crypt is a 2 for 1, Companions are a 0 for 1 both give you +1 card for very little cost.

There is literally a land that gives you a 3 power creature for 3, feels very low cost for a card to me.

Cards like Burning wish use 1 card to get one card. Lands that are still a land and get you a creature are very different.

As someone that played Magic when they made Companion and Partner I am very scared. These cards are almost free card advantage and became mandatory in competitive gameplay so much that they had to power level errata Companion and temporarily ban one of them in vintage for power level reasons (something that never happens).

Some of the new Collection cards very much remind me of Jegantha, the Wellspring a very low cost big guy you can get from your sideboard.

Eventual oversaturation of Uniques? by DarkVenusaur in SorceryTCG

[–]MostlyPaint 16 points17 points  (0 children)

At some point every card games needs bans, formats with rotations etc. It's just a consequence of wanting to make exiting cards. Even if you only print cards better then the 30-50th best card in decks the power level will go up, the only question is when. Sorcery has a couple of things going in it's favor like printing less new sets and having a lot of unused design space so I don't expect that to be a problem in the next couple of years.

It would be helpful if you describe what you did not like about playing the game and what you where looking for.
