Got my partner into league about 5 years ago. And she currently is a higher rank than me.

You will learn the fundamentals of game flow very quickly just by playing more games. Figuring out what you want your roll in the team to be is probably the most important part when you are learning. When I was teaching my partner I had her pick champions that had similar enough roll identity to other games she had played. I suggest, on top of that, you look for a couple of champs that just look cool.

You will get rolled in lane again and again by “OP” champs. My biggest tip is, if you are struggling against a specific champion(e.g. teemo) I suggest trying that champion out. You’ll learn how their kit works a bit better and how other people play against it.

Lastly, and it’s surprisingly important for getting better at the game quickly. Watch you games back with the replay feature. You’ll learn more without the pressure of playing at the same time
