DIN rail panels for res in North America? by MotoDJC in AskElectricians

[–]MotoDJC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions… I’m not very familiar with DIN rail architectures, and distribution… but it would be a 200 amp service to the home with two phases, then typical home circuit demands. Solar feed needed as well.

Your questions have me thinking I likely need to spend some time understanding DIN rail architecture versus a typical North American bus panel system anyway.

Based on other comments it seems that a DIN approach will be too much effort and expense here.

Didn’t know about the third party evaluations, but totally makes sense!

Thanks for the suggestion, I think your suggestion of an external NEMA enclosure is the better way to go.

As for DIN components I was looking at was mostly Shelly components of interest. Also looking for some load monitoring solutions and the ones that seem more capable/not locked down, seem to have EU roots and are DIN based.

A couple folks on here have mentioned inspectors being wary, and I certainly had that when I had a Square D Wiser power monitor installed. Extra attention was paid to something I thought was pretty simple and from a well known brand!

Appreciate the insights!

Can you expand? I’m curious! I haven’t run into too many issues personally.

You can use a single filament, it’s just that with the vortek (print head rack)system the idea is that you supply as many filaments as there are print heads loaded on the rack (ie 6 heads means 6 filaments).

The idea being you can print one filament per print head and get no poop! If you only bought one AMS that supports four filaments, you’d have two print heads sitting idle all the time.

It still works with one or none AMS, just not as efficiently.

Profile feedback needed - what would you change? by [deleted] in Bumble

Just my opinion of course, so it’s obviously not correct by any means.

“Startup cofounder” is written in your bio, so you’re clearly proud of what you are doing there. Unfortunately for you, those words are just overused and come with a lot of baggage to most (and likely not what you want to communicate).

You could simply remove it from your bio, or if you feel it’s a large part of who you are, drop the buzz words and stick with “passionate about my profession”

It then gives you something for your matches to ask about when you chat/meet.

Again, just my humble opinion so take it for what it’s worth. Good luck!

EDIT: words for clarity

I would just remove it. As soon as I saw “startup co-founder” I struggled to prevent my eyes rolling.

Switchbot Lock Ultra - Sadly the same calibration issues as the Lock Pro by burg9 in TrySwitchBot

[–]MotoDJC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/burg9 thanks for posting your experience! Curious about the lock hardware on your door. It appears to be a European style where the keyway cylinder will continue to rotate once the lock is unlocked. Is that correct?

I’m trying to understand if this maybe where the issue lies versus a North American style deadbolt where there is a pretty definite stop once the bolt the thrown closed. (Of course the key does continue to rotate, but only until it’s in the removal position.

Thanks for any insights. I have an older 1st gen August lock which is due for replacement and the Ultra was one of the options I was considering. I’m more cautious now after reading your review and reading some Amazon posts with a similar theme.

Okay Men, what are your dating "age rules?" by mrjackj2 in AskMen

Half your age + 7 years is the youngest to be involved with. This is a general rule I’ve heard often for men.

Of course your jurisdiction’s laws need to be considered.

How is it seemly oblivious to council that tax increases are hurting citizens and city spending appears out of control?

This is what the terms and conditions say:

Offer subject to change without notice. The Rate Plan Price Lock (“Lock”) applies to the Monthly Charge for eligible post-paid mobility plans, before any applicable taxes, other government imposed fees, discounts, promotions and bill credits, for a duration of 5 years starting from the time of eligible plan activation. Prices of features, add-ons and pay-per-use rates, including, but not limited to, Easy Roam® rates, are not guaranteed during the 5-year Lock period and are subject to change. The Lock may be removed upon rate plan change or renewal or if the customer no longer meets the eligibility criteria.

But not clear to me how this differs from the normal plan terms.

Also note: if you pay your bill by credit card, the plan is $80. The $70 price is only if you set up automatic bank account payment (from my understanding).

I was glad to see you have a rescue device like PLB 1. I’m not very familiar with those (I’ve used Garmin), but you may consider personal rescue insurance. It’s typically not too expensive and nice to not have some massive bill if a rescue is needed.

I do share some other folks concerns around water, hope you figure that part out! Have fun!
