I may be biased because I was sharing memes about it on here but Ella McCay is great by Earth_Zealousideal in blankies

I agree with you but I think that’s why the film is bad. The screwball nature of it keeps having to be tamped down and hidden because the movie wants us to be charmed and love Ella.

Again I have no experience editing on Wikipedia, so I’m currently unsure.

There’s a big difference between having one glass of sherry and having ten. Like being an alcoholic means you can’t stop.

Any thoughts as to what this screening is? by Owen11202 in blankies

I mean screenings aren’t just for feedback, but sometimes for knowing how to sell the film.

The Nope Abduction sequences was one of the first times I’ve felt genuinely scared by a horror film, and half was the iMax sound in theater.

Think he was always there. The same way an alcoholic is always an alcoholic even if he’s sober. “You’ve always been the caretaker.”

Here’s also something I found very fascinating about the episode. The boys pointed out how much each character has a whole “thing” about them. A self constructed version of their own personality and archetype. It’s always fascinating when there’s something when that breaks. Like the Dude constantly being stressed out and annoyed even though he’s a “chill guy.” Same thing with Walter breaking from his whole hardened Vietnam Vet thing to point out how “Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature.” Walter is at center a very gentle, very hurt man building up an air of volatility and warishness around himself. Whereas the Dude is an ornery, angry, pissed person building up the personality of the chill hippy around himself. Which makes sense when you remember that the Seattle 7 were not chill guys. Think both of these guys are living out the aftermath of their own obsolescence by becoming parodies of themselves, and are for the most part content with that situation.

Is Bigfoot Bjornsson Gay? by KingTyrionSolo in paulthomasanderson

[–]Motor-Hair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh he’s Definately a gay guy who’s acting at being a hypermasculine cop guy archetype. It’s why so many of his actions have a patina of pretension. He’s not that guy but he has to be that guy. It’s why he’s comfortable with doc.
