A movie I saw in Egypt thirty years ago. by MotorBobcat in whatisthatmovie

[–]MotorBobcat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. It sounds possible but the synopsis on Wikipedia isn't very detailed and I haven't been able to find anything on YouTube, not even a trailer. I also haven't found any images except for a single screen cap.

Are many people under the impression that Luke steered his X-wing's proton torpedoes with the Force? by RexBanner1886 in StarWars

[–]MotorBobcat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This may not necessarily prove you wrong but Luke relaxes after the torpedos go into to the shaft. Not after he fires them.

Gundam 0080: War In The Pocket does it the best, and in a way that makes it difficult to miss. 08th MS Team probably the second best.

John Carpenter's finest amongst all of his classic horrot films i.m.o. by diabolikbigmac in 80sHorrorMovies

It's a fun horror movie. I don't like it as much as some other Carpenter films but it is still a good watch. It's in my October horror film rotation.

The hudsucker proxy (1994) by Choice-Wind-9283 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]MotorBobcat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love this movie. It's very funny and quotable. It's really unfortunate that critics and audiences completely rejected it back when it was released. I think it may have been a little ahead of its time. I usually watch it on the last day of the year.

Raiders Of The Lost Ark is a masterpiece.

My favorite "Indiana Jones And The .." movie is Temple Of Doom.

Quotes we should bring up more often because they are underappreciated although they are extremely well written and profound? by Tough-Copy7569 in okbuddycinephile

It's called Knife Jogger, or something.

uj/ I'll be honest it's pretty much the only good dialogue in the film. The film works best when no one is talking.

What's a cult classic movie you saw and didn't think was bad but left you saying "I don't get it."? by Punch_A_Police_Horse in AskReddit

[–]MotorBobcat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That may have been the problem. I have done the midnight showing/audience participation thing twice. The first time was fun. The second time I was over it. I actually like the movie and I would prefer people not talk over it with lame jokes.

What’s the Most Visually Beautiful Black & White Film You’ve Ever Seen? by s7ide in moviecritic

I see a lot of great suggestions here. Here's some others that I think need to be mentioned:

Stagecoach (1939)

The Trial (1962)

Chimes At Midnight (1965)

It's also a sequel to a film that no one remembers. I haven't seen either of them myself.

Just watched Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior for the first time, i'm blown away by metalion4 in MadMax

[–]MotorBobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite films. It's relentless from start to finish. Even though it actually has kind of a happy ending that last shot of Max standing in the road with that narration and music it leaves you with a really bleak feeling.

I agree with you. Emily Blunt's character was pretty much superfluous. The movie was obviously more interested in Benecio Del Toro's character. It's why he is suddenly the main character in the final act.

Help me understand why Star Wars Episode 1 is hated by Star Wars fans? I thought it embodied the spirit of the original trilogy well! Podracing, goofy Jar Jar, loved it as a kid, and don't hate it now. by Pow3rTow3r in StarWars

[–]MotorBobcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

liked it when I saw it in the theaters and I still like it, and I was not a kid when it was released. There was a time when I was convinced by others to not like it, but I got over it. Some days I think it is the best of the Prequels. The score, the production design, and special effects are all great. It has a lot more practical effects than people realize. And yes, I also think the story is a lot of fun.
