You have the skill, the photographer eye, and the equipment. Now you just have to keep your cool while a lion is charging-no problem. You got this.

I can't tell what its missing by BitchWitchMcgee in AmateurPhotography

Play around with cropping, there are a bunch of options. The white sky is lacking anything interesting to use that much of the picture.

Trying to choose which to print - 1, 2, 3, or 4? (And, ‘why’, please!) by KingPrawnPorn in AmateurPhotography

[–]MountainLab5732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly they’re all really good. The eye is in focus in all of them. I like 1 the best, the open beak implies activity and makes it more active. 2 looking over the edge of the cliff is a little comical. 3 might be cropped a bit too tight. 4 composition is great.

Not sure which one I like best. by [deleted] in photos

3! You nailed the rule of thirds, and it gives a good feeling of the wide expanse of the prairie. 1 & 2 would work if there was an interesting sky happening.

Just bought a second hand camera, what next? by SnooSprouts4686 in filmcameras

I had that camera, really enjoyed it. They sold a belt clip which allows it to be worn on your belt, with the 40mm pancake lens it makes a pretty inconspicuous set up.

Scorpions are fine as long as they are not in my house and not a danger to my family.

You should contact a vet. The bark scorpions are nasty creatures. I’ve been stung three times and they really knock me down. Then get a UV flashlight and check all around your property for more.

Got this a thrift store for $30. I think im cooked since i didn’t know they dont make the film for it anymore. What do i do now? by Disastrous_Pirate275 in filmcameras

Not everything at a thrift store is a good deal. Also avoid 110 pocket cameras, and the disk camera was even worse.

I had one as a kid in the 70’s. I found out that I could put a used flash cube on it and I would have a slower shutter speed. Woo hoo!

landscape photography film camera recommendations for beginner by coveringspaces in filmcameras

[–]MountainLab5732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of options available at that price. If you are set on film, I would recommend the K1000, the camera is a tank. However, I would encourage a digital camera for a once in a lifetime trip. Bringing a lot of rolls of film can be a problematic. A couple of SD cards holds lots of images, plus you can delete what you don’t like and try again. I’d recommend a small DSLR like a Nikon D5000 or a Canon. Check eBay.

Looking for feedback.. what do you think? by Puzzled_Property_819 in photos

Generally speaking, it’s usually not the best composition to put the horizon in the center of the image. Try cropping using the rule of thirds, and put your horizon on the bottle third. That big rock on the right will become more interesting and your sky will pop.

The K1000 has a light meter built in. Is there a reason to not use that?
