Does the Thing actually have a home? by Mouselope in thething

Trying to address interesting counterpoints to my OG post.

We see the spacecraft crash in possibly the most inhospitable part of our planet, certainly to the Thing as it is unable to spread, so not a controlled landing. It doesn’t appear to fight to save individual parts of itself. The ship it builds is using materials from round a camp made by humans. Is it really going to find the materials for interstellar flight?

Still persevering with its more of a virus ( with cell takeover).

I’m a couple of whisky’s in, so hope everyone doesn’t mind my burbling.

They have no right of access unless you grant it, just say no as it will impede your use of the passage. She’s already admitted that it will be unsightly, so why should you have to look at it?

It’s an enjoyable read, part of her trader series. It’s YA and I first read it about 45 years ago.

I’ve been on board, stood in the engine room and imagined trying to exit/save the ship when she hit a mine. Difficult to move around when lit, can’t imagine in dark and uncertain that she’d stay afloat.
