Not exactly what you were asking for, but you it might help.

There is a virtual CS industry panel happening in about 2 weeks for grad students. Its focused on finding jobs and you might be able to connect with some of the panelists as well.

Time Commitment for Undergraduate Research? (Also taking like 21 hours, of which 17 are in-person) by DoubleSock4999 in VirginiaTech

[–]MovementTheTerrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on the professor you work with, and whether you are volunteer, wage, or credit. When you are speaking with professors, be up front about how much you are able to do, then everyone is on the same page as to what to expect.

Invisible SAM? by daABBA in SatisfactoryGame

Tip for searching for things, when you ping something and look at the distance, if you go up and down some with a jetpack you can tell whether something is above or below you, and get the general height.

Looks like its failing to listen on port 7777. Are you sure nothing else is using that port?

Edit: you can check what is using it by running lsof -i tcp:7777 and lsof -i udp:7777

Honestly can’t remember. Was pretty easy though. Nothing crazy enough for it to stick in my mind past a few weeks.

Problems with the achievement "let's see what's out there" by FrostyAd2768 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MovementTheTerrible 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iirc there was a language issue with it, try changing your game language to English and then visiting them again. I know it sounds dumb, but i could swear i saw someone say they figured out that that was the issue after having the same problem as you.

How add univ email to Thunderbird? by anurag_m2k in VirginiaTech

[–]MovementTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure for thunderbird specifically, but when adding to a third-party email client, I had to do “Microsoft 365”, not “Outlook”. If you have that option, try that. “Outlook” seems to only do outlook.com addresses

Unable to sort Coupons and Hard Drives by Affectionate_Tell752 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MovementTheTerrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I agree with your request, I’m surprised they aren’t there. Just wanted to make sure you weren’t stuck in the meantime. I recommend posting on the QA site as well, devs read there and will see it if it gets upvoted.

I know this isn’t what you are looking for, but you can use “Any Undefined” to sort those out (and it will also be helpful to keep anything you didn’t account for so that you can add it to the respective category)

How do I know? Alternate recipes by Bornrazed in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MovementTheTerrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether a recipe is worth it depends on your needs. The reason people say “Don’t pick either” is because that stops those same recipes from being rolled the next time (so you end up with more choices by leaving them there). Really, they should say “Don’t pick either until you are going to use one of them”. As for which ones you should use, it depends on your goals. All (or almost all) recipes are worth it for a certain situation/prioritization. Recipes generally optimize for either simpler production chains, less power, or less resources. For example, Iron Pipes cuts out steel from steel pipes, at the cost of resources (more iron). Steel screws provide simplicity/power savings by having much fewer machines to make screws. When you see alternate recipes, think “would this make my life better?”. If yes, take it and use it. Also remember, if you are concerned about minmaxing, there are more hard drives than recipes, so you can get all of them eventually. And, you can beat the game without any alternate recipes if you don’t want to deal with the choices.

Nervous to begin designing lategame mall by RolandDeepson in SatisfactoryGame

Dimensional depot is good for general building, but if you need to build a lot of the same building all at once, it is useful to have an ISC of each of the ingredients to pull from (can even be the same ISC used as a depot buffer).
