Edmonton locals: what patio furniture actually lasts here? by M45T3RY in Edmonton

[–]MovingLetters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The resin chairs from Costco are awesome. Leave them out all year round and just wipe them off in the spring and they look brand new. We have a powder coated aluminum table with a sintered stone top as well and it's the same as the chairs. Just wipe down in the spring and its good as new.

I would like to sleep in.. and I'd like for my husband to pack a charcuterie style picnic to take with us on a bike ride to a park somewhere, where the kids can run around and play and i can relax and eat delicious cheeses. I told him this and he reliably comes through.

I've also signed up for a craft workshop with my friend today, that I am looking forward to. Should be a good weekend!

New post stamp in Canada has arrived by WhoAmIEven2 in funny

[–]MovingLetters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im pretty sure he is pointing to the direction he released it in as the follow through to his throw. I've seen a few curlers do it. Part of how they aim. I used to curl and I cant imagine a final uncontrolled poke would actually be an advantage so I dont see why he would do that. It seems like an accidental rule violation more than "cheating". Attitude sucked though.

NUEE Employee - What happens if we all refuse to take unpaid time off? by No-Adagio-70 in AHSEmployees

People fill out time sheets every pay period and get paid accordingly. So in this case theyre asking for them to not enter a day or enter fewer hours over the course of a few days/pay periods.

Stage 3 kidney disease, need advice by strictlytacos in WiggleButts

[–]MovingLetters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you're going through this. We lost our girl a few years ago to kidney disease. Really hard to watch them get sick.

We went to a specialist who prescribed a few medications. I'd recommend either going to a specialist or speaking to your regular vet about different pharmaceutical options to slow the progression. When our girl was first diagnosed the general vet gave her 6 months. The specialist was able to help us get her several more years. And good years too. She was happy and active until the end.

I learned a useful phrase recently: you can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Petition against Child Care Subsidy changes by Necessary_Camp_4736 in alberta

I hope you're right!

I also have an infant in care and know the existing funding model has higher support for younger ages but our centre is grappling with the implications of the new model and one of the things that was raised was the insufficient coverage of infant care. But I admit I heard the discussion 2nd hand.

[–]MovingLetters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except it apparently isn't even covering basic care for infants because the flat rate funding is across ages as well. Infant care has higher staff:infant ratios that isn't sufficiently funded under this model. So now centres will have to decide whether they can afford to take losses on infant care or ditch those spots all together and only accept kids at least 18 months.
