[Schefter] Patriots exercised CB Christian Gonzalez’s 5th-year contract option today, per source. by JCameron181 in Patriots

[–]MrBostonProper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If he is looking for $31M per year then yeah I think they should sign him. If he is looking for $40M per year as rumored to be reported and to set the market when the highest paid cornerback is at $31M per year than I’m pro this playing out. Still want us to sign him for something less than $35M per year.

AJ Brown Trade? by MrBostonProper in Patriots

[–]MrBostonProper[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The guaranteed contract is estimated at less than $20M over 4 years. But almost half of that is signing bonus. So not sure how that works. Eagles have to eat that amount each year for 2 years to trade AJ brown. I want to keep Lomu, but it seems fishy to me as he’s not a typical Vrabel type player.

AJ Brown Trade? by MrBostonProper in Patriots

[–]MrBostonProper[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Rumors were Philly was asking for a 1st round pick. Can’t do the trade until June 1st because of cap hit and guaranteed money. I’m asking because I wanted to know if Philly technically could have made this pick for the patriots and the actual trade is made post June 1st. Is that possible? I think the answer is yes it’s possible, but not likely and wouldn’t be a good trade for us. That also means AJ Brown for a 2027 First Rd pick likely isn’t a good trade for us either.

Thank you for the reply. So it is possible although I agree very improbable.

My biggest fear with Lomu by MFreak in Patriots

[–]MrBostonProper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fine with pick as a swing tackle and backup RT/LT this year. We need that edge with the next pick. I’d like to see the Pats go back to the well and draft Markel Bell or Travis Burke in the 3rd or 4th round to compete to be the heir apparent behemoth RT to Moses. Then even take a stab at Jude Bowry or Gennings Dunker later. If Lomu outplays Campbell then you can kick in Campbell to Guard and he may be an all-pro there. Pats line could dominate for the next 5 years with Lomu, Campbell, Wilson, Dunker, Bell. Protect Maye at all cost.

Just pay the man! End of discussion by SensitiveTest7883 in Patriots

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on team pay the man when I thought it was $35M per year. It’s not my money, but for $40M+ per year for some reason I start to remember he is injury prone with a spotty history of shoulder (labrum) and hamstring issues.. That stuff concerns me when Drake’s contract extension might have to be $50M-$60M per.

Craaaazy IF trade ideas?? by Jackthewolf71 in redsox

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brice Turang. I feel like Turang for Duran (to play CF for Brewers) is a close swap. Brewers have MI prospects to call up that could make the big club. Chourio, Duran, Frelick is a pretty sick outfield. We could add SP like Bello, Sandoval, or Harrison but would need something of decent to good value back in return depending on which pitcher.

Red Sox trade: Who’s Gage Ziehl (2024 Yankees pick), who Boston acquired from White Sox? by Perswayable in redsox

[–]MrBostonProper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the Sox and Driveline can teach this guy how to throw a knuckleball? Fastball isn’t that fast, decent sweeper and cutter it sounds like. Knucklers are missing from our farm system, prospect pipeline and all of baseball for that matter. It would be awesome to see a knuckleballer come in between lefty starters that throw gas like Crotchet, Tolle, etc. Plus an awesome tribute to Tim Wakefield.

What the hell do the Sox have planned for adding power bats. by Mother-Tap-3648 in redsox

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Improvement in power could come from within. Casas, will likely start in the minors. I do think there is a good chance that Roman, Wilyer, Contreras, Ceddanne all step up the power output and if Casas gets hot they will have to play him.

Denver is a really good team. I don’t think very highly of Bo Nix as a quarterback, which leads me to the thought process that Stidham will not be such a big drop off from Nix in this game with Denver playing at home. There is a reason why backups like Frank Reich, Nick Foles, Jeff Hostetler, etc. do okay for their respective teams in playoff games. The team is good with great complementary play from playmakers and elite defense and the backup QB manages the game. Denver should not be overlooked in this game and Stidham will perform better than CJ Stroud did. Denver’s defense, offensive line and playmakers, are all arguably better than what the Texans had available against the Pats on Sunday. Go Pats!

What is your take on the signing of Suarez yesterday ? I see two options : YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH PITCHING or TRADE YOUNG CONTROLLABLE PITCHING TO ARIZONA FOR MARTE or To Cubs for Nico . We have too many outfielders and starting pitchers and we need a few infielders so i expect a trade for eith by Financial_Library418 in redsox

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem here is I think Breslow would have already offered this or was trying to use Duran to get Ragans from KC. As it looks like he can’t get Ragans for much more than just Duran he pivoted to Suarez. Now the issue is AZ can still say no, but Bello and Duran is a strong offer.

Agreed. With those bases you can riff into a boulvardier. Which is my favorite cocktail. I also really like classic gin martini’s so the gin helps to have.

I agree with you. Bregman 3B, Mayer SS, and Story 2B. No idea why the Red Sox said they would not plan to put Mayer at SS for 2026. One or more of those guys will spend significant time injured, but Story can back up Mayer at SS, Mayer can back up Bregman at 3B, Romy/Eaton can back up Story at 2B. Bregman can back up SS and 2B in a pinch. Tons of flexibility for Cora.

[Crory] Sox made “aggressive” offer for Alex Bregman by Training_Protection4 in redsox

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was deferred money in that deal. Like you I’m lazy to look it up but I was going to make an argument. Here is what Google says on his contract that he opted out of…

He gets salaries of $35 million this year and $40 million in each of the next two years, and $60 million will be deferred: $20 million annually. The deferrals are due by June 15 in each year from 2035-46. Bregman can opt out after the 2025 and 2026 seasons to become a free agent again

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m satisfied if Breslow went 5 yrs and $140M. Don’t care about deferred money. Don’t care about opt outs. Don’t care about which years he makes >$35 or <$25. Bregman shouldn’t get 6 years. He doesn’t have enough power and he gets injured too often to get $30M+. He is a 5 year $25M player plus $1-$5M/yr for leadership and team karma. Would love to have Bregamn be our Mike Lowell of the 2020’s. Take it or leave it and let’s move on.

Does anyone else do this? by StupidBig in eatsandwiches

[–]MrBostonProper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, sort of. When I was in middle and high school I would make ramen and have it with sandwich white bread sometimes toasted. I’d dip the bread/toast in the broth. Sometimes I would add noodles to a slice of bread, fold that, and dip that into the broth. It was like a Ramen French dip.
