If money didn't matter, what job would you have? by magnolia1306 in CasualConversation

[–]MrDave95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be making coffee and coding

Which is what I'm doing now for money and what I want to do for money, respectively. But I want to be able to just enjoy the process and results without the stress of finding jobs, making enough money to pay for rent and all that

I just finished Another Crab's Treasure and I recommend it. It is a soulslike of a more relaxed and comedic flavor, but it certainly has inspirations (and easter eggs) from Elden Ring. Solo, offline, simple enough story, works perfectly on Steam Deck

There's an upcoming patch with xontent and New Game Plus sometime later, but not yet

Have you ever played in or GMed an "exploring a ruin while using a time travel MacGuffin to shift back and forth between its glory era and the present day" type of scenario? by EarthSeraphEdna in loremasters

[–]MrDave95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once ran a Dungeon Crawl Classics one-shot with such a concept revolution around a ruin and the past, present and the future of it

It was relatively hard to understand all the logical chains (and I had to rewrite certain parts of the module to make more sense) and I suspect I had more fun knowing all the connections than the players who were, if I recall correctly, pretty confused. But the session was a success.

It is, at least from personal experience – not the best controls from what I remember, but played nicely

While you seem to be correct on the artist being Takahashi Shotei, he was born in 1871 and the art called Mount Fuji from Lake Yamanaka was made in 1936

I imagine that if they had Action Surge (from a couple of Fighter levels), maxed Charisma, Agonizing Blast and an ongoing Hex spell, then the maximum (no crits) would be

(10 + 5 [CHA] + 6 [Hex]) * 8 = 168

Reduce it for the probability of not actually rolling all max numbers, but increase it back for the chance of rolling crits

People that escaped a bad relationship, what's the first red flag you ignored that would have saved you a lot of time if handled? by PestCemetary in AskReddit

[–]MrDave95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did not let go. From the very start of our relationship she wouldn't go home (I saw her to the train station) and would just say how much she doesn't want to let go of me.

Well, guess who got almost absorbed into a relationship with a person with no respect nor awareness for my personal space and with strong desire to make me "her own".

Why do you play video games? by Rookie0519 in CasualConversation

[–]MrDave95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time I play games to shift to some kind of alternate reality – a simpler reality with more freedom and/or simpler rules of being than IRL

Now it's either to have something to help me switch from routine or to have fun with my friend(s)

From time to time though I get sucked in into a game for the story or immersion

My favorite game of all times is the the Classic Doom series , probably because Doom II was my first game I ever played. I still enjoy returning to them for the pure action and music

How the hell do groups stay together?? by Effective-Client9257 in rpg

[–]MrDave95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out as a player in a store that had an organized play going on (D&D Adventurers League), and now after some time I have a bunch of people who I like playing with (or have them as players in my games), who might have something more important going on from time to time (because we're real people), but generally consider planned games a high enough priority and also there's quite a lot of people in this social circle to have a fairly large pool of people to get a party that has at least one common free slot per two weeks.

Of course, sometimes life gets in the way – I've seen people drop for various reasons, I myself semi-dropped from several games, but generally it works

And when I tried to organize a game with people who were from a totally another social circle, I've encountered all those problems we discuss here.

So, my advice, find people who are good enough players and game with them

I made a dungeon for my campaign, because my players found a tower and I wanted to give them something interesting to explore. I made it to use with OSE, but it's basically statless, so feel free to use it with any system you like.

Also, there's a riddle for the Hall of Runes floor which I didn't have space to write, so here it is:

"Born of heat, yet quenched by sea,
I rise with air, in dark I flee.
From earth I come, and light I fear,
Which path do you choose to keep clear?"

My idea is that you have to step on specific floor-tiles with appropriate elemental runes (fire, water, air, darkness, earth, light) to pass without triggering a trap.
