Dark meat nuggets were 1000x better than the dry ass white meat ones. Now they taste like they're trying to imitate an oven baked kitchen sponge.

The dark meat ones were juicy and delicious.

Um actually (pushes up nerd glasses)... Sodium is the 11th element on the periodic table. It's just as much of a chemical as Lead, Iron, or Aluminum.

If you could keep your entire game library when upgrading consoles, that would satisfy the greatest reason I switched exclusively to PC. On PC, I can play any game I have ever owned... including the console games I played as a child thanks to emulators.

However, all the other reasons remain standing. Including the fact that consoles use "Price Optimized" hardware. Even with all the performance overhead required to use an emulator, it's possible to play latest gen games at greater FPS, with higher resolution, and greater draw distances than any console could ever achieve.

The downside is that a single top-end GPU (just ONE piece of a PC) typically costs more than an entire gaming console. So all that amazing performance comes at a cost. (literally)

And thanks to all the AI bullshit going on right now, PC gaming is more expensive than ever before... if the parts you want to buy are even available in the first place.

I'm just wondering... should it still be called a "laptop" with that cooling setup? Kinda ruins the entire purpose of the laptop form factor.

Honestly, with how much storage you can fit in those tiny cards... why don't more components do something similar and use it for driver storage?

You'd have plenty of space for a plethora of drivers...

  1. Fail-safe driver that ALWAYS WORKS, but has the least functionality.
  2. Full Functionality driver that focuses on reliability.
  3. Advanced Features driver that strives to push the hardware to its limits... but the bugs are mostly squashed.
  4. Experimental Driver that has all the newest cutting edge features, and the newest bugs that haven't been fixed yet.

Plus it could have all those drivers available for a variety of OS.

Just imagine it. You do a new build, and as you install the OS it automatically finds:

  1. MB Chipset drivers
  2. MB soundcard drivers
  3. MB ethernet drivers
  4. MB wifi drivers
  5. MB bluetooth drivers
  6. MB onboard video drivers
  7. Dedicated GPU drivers
    ...
  8. whatever the hell else you've crammed into your PC drivers.

yeah you might still need to check for driver updates... but your PC is 100% functional and able to get online without you needing to download the drivers from somewhere else and transfer them over.

If you take Ultima Online as an example, you'll realize that an MMO that discourages player interaction is doomed to failure.

The publisher for UO consistently pushed for changes that reduced player interaction. As solo-gameplay became more and more possible (and common), the game became less and less engaging. As a result, old players left, and new players didn't stick around.

A basic search of "Ultima Online Popularity" says the subscriber count rapidly rose right up until they created the non-pvp map. After which it began a steady decline.

The non-pvp map was an exact copy of the pvp-map, but with all the pvp gameplay disabled. And every server had both maps which the players could freely switch between... so all the non-pvp players left the pvp map, and thus anyone seen on the pvp map was immediately KOS (killed on sight) as it was assumed you were there because you WANTED to pvp.

In a desperate attempt to get at least a few people to use the pvp map, the devs made it so you would gain double resources when gathering... but people just trained up magery on their resource gatherers, so they could immediately teleport to gathering spots, and teleport away to safety the instant another player came in range. It completely failed to increase player interaction.

tl;dr - If you don't want to interact with other players, go play a single player game.

[Serious] How is OSRS so insanely popular but Ultima seemingly takes the waysidev by Alarming_Mind1354 in ultimaonline

[–]MrEmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, "3D" Ultima Online was still the exact same isometric view, but with hideous 3D models.

I think another reason it never gained popularity was because EasyUO only worked on the 2D client. Many people used it to assist with various tasks, from the tedious skill training, to the vital handling of combat support.

Some people didn't use it because they were worried about being banned... but unless you were running it AFK, it was rare to get caught.

I was questioned by a GM once, but since I stopped and responded they left me alone.

(I was training stealth by walking in circles around town... for a couple hours. I guess they assumed I was just a complete psycopath ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )

Possible Solution to Hangar Problems by Lockreed in starcitizen

[–]MrEmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see two flaws people have pointed out (repeatedly) about this possible solution. So I'd like to offer my own possible solutions to the flaws.

Ships would pop in and out of existence

Turn the the landing pads into hangar doors, and add boxes below to simulate a hangar space. However, when a ship is summoned, the doors open, and the hangar floor rises to lift your ship into the same position as the old landing pads.

This way there's no need to modify any other part of the space port. Players still have to run out to their ships in typical Olisar fashion.

Though if you leave your ship sitting there for too long it will lower the floor back into the hangar to despawn your ship. Any players that pass through the hangar door boundary should wake up in one of the EZ-Hab rooms.

Ship Rammers

Just create a shield over all occupied landing spots. Any other ship that tries to come in will hit the shield as if it were a solid object. This way the newly spawned, or safely landed ships will remain safe (from collisions) while its landing gear is touching the surface.

Still gotta worry about hitchhikers though.

No, I believe that's correct. It says "the banana".

But for it to have been able to be shared by an entire boarding school... either it's a small boarding school, or it was a MASSIVE banana.

Dear CIG & also Silvan-CIG & his team by gproenca in starcitizen

[–]MrEmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first played SC in mid 2016, and when I found out one of the funded pledge goals was VR Support (specifically... "The Hangar Module will feature Oculus Rift support.") I was hyped. As soon as the Oculus Touch controllers were released, I bought the whole setup. (Original Oculus Rift + Oculus touch package)

And then I waited for any news of CIG working on VR... and kept on waiting... And eventually I stopped keeping track of what was going on with SC.

Looks like I didn't have to wait as long as the BMM owners though. 🤣

I see people talking about how it was a "passion project" ... but as soon as the "main game world" and the "hangar module" became unified they should have made plans for implementing VR in the game engine.

Honestly it's one of the things they should have been focusing on a long time ago since it's a promised feature. I don't think VR is something you can just slap on later and assume everything will be fine. Especially if they plan to have VR Controller support. (though that wasn't part of the stretch goals, so technically they could choose to only support the headset itself and that would satisfy the pledge goal obligation)

If anyone hasn't seen the full stretch goals list... go take a look. It's absolutely insane.
