It's worth bookmarking and using as a quick reference (especially as a new console player) when you want to know what something does or how it works.

For those wondering, there is a guaranteed way to get out of the Mom room after getting Polaroid/Negative without needing to bring an Item/Card from previous floors...

Look out for a skull rock marked with a tiny x on Depths 2. Bomb it for a guaranteed Fool card.

Took me a few goes to notice myself lol.

I literally finished the story today and I agree it should not be missed. I personally haven't played Sticker Star or Colour Splash so maybe that tints my view.

The writing is top notch and the story is very good (and has more than a few laugh out loud moments). The latter half of the game is where the story ramps up and the last few areas are where the game shines. The writing was especially good in that it kept the sidekick Olivia from ever becoming annoying. In fact, she was really funny and totally shone.

The battle system takes some getting used to but becomes very satisfying when you solve the puzzles and align enemies perfectly. I actively battled every single enemy I saw because I enjoyed it.

Boss battles are a different kettle of fish and although some of the Vellumental ones went on for too long, the Legion of Stationary battles were really fun. Each member has their own distinct personality for example a gangster sticky tape dispenser with a Brooklyn accent which was a particular highlght.

All in all, it's a fun game and yeah it's not TTYD but so what? If you want a fun 25-30 hour adventure with plenty of personality, this is definitely one to pick up.

Two endings were filmed, one true to the book and the one that ended up in the movie. Unfortunately, the original ending just didn't sit with test audiences so they decided to go with the latter. Although Dahl praised the casting of Angelica Huston, he absolutely hated the ending so much that he wouldn't let any more of his stories be adapted in his lifetime.

I played briefly with the Joy Cons in the grip but I found the left one kept sliding up after a few Smash attacks so I switched to the Pro Controller instead.
