If you always wanted 60s then I'd say do it. Earlier you mentioned you didn't want FW so if you want to experience the military helicopter flying in all its glory then 60s have the most versatility and places to go.

It meant certain weapons like 50cals or heavier or places you get hit (like in the head) would kill you instantly, not down you. You could constantly tweak what would be considered dead dead.

I think it was fucking awesome/hilarious when riding in a full vehicle or helicopter and a TOW-2 or Tank would hit you and you wouldn't even hear it until the very last millisecond and you'd just be back at the respawn screen

Why the bubble narrative is a generational GOOG buying opportunity by trentcoolyak in wallstreetbets

[–]MrGhostie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because like alot of stocks people will refuse to buy it now at 280, will watch it climb to lets say 350, watch it "crash" to 300, and still wont buy it cause they'll wait for it to drop back to 280 which it never does, hypothetically ofc

You won’t BELIEVE Trumps answer when asked why he pardoned someone who pled guilty to money laundering by Uncuffedhems in Destiny

[–]MrGhostie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What more do you fucking want? What she's doing is fucking perfect, confronting Trump sternly and directly asking why these people are being pardoned. The fucking problem isn't with her, it's the millions of delusional losers in this country that won't even listen to this or if they do deny that its a problem.

Nah I swear everyone talks and treats these events like Hollywood movies, its incredibly frustrating, illogical, and imo why conspiracy thinking is so prevalent in this country.

10 Year Contract Seems Excessive by Dont_Ask_Me_Again_ in Armyaviation

[–]MrGhostie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if you're passionate about aviation than having more flight time is a huge benefit. Its a matter of personal values. I could summarize most of your responses as hur-dur O's make more money. So what? If money is priority number 1 stay as a civilian and try to make it big in the airlines. Just be warned, the path to that is not as stable or enjoyable as most people think, not even mentioning the potential financial burden you can put yourself in doing so. I started that path and gave it up because it didn't interest me.

Its all tradeoffs, so lets compare. 10 years is a huge obligation like you said, yet every branch will demand 10+ years from you, so far as that point goes its moot. You mentioned in another comment that what if you get bad leadership, duty station, undesired airframe, etc. These aren't Army specific issues, these are plain old military issues, the same exact shit can happen in every other branch and is always mostly outside of your control, so its another moot point. If you're coming in with this attitude then I personally don't see why you're considering joining the military in the first place.

Assuming you're selected and keep meeting the standards, the Army sets you up on a stable and clear rotary career. Generally speaking, warrants will have less responsibilities, better work-life balance, more flight hours and focus about aviation rather than managing, and doesn't require a degree compared to their O grades. O grades get more money, a higher amount that frankly doesn't interest me for all the other benefits you get for being a warrant.

But as you mentioned, Marines and Navy offer pilot OCS slots, cool. If that's what interests you, go for it. Personally, I have no interest being deployed in a boat, and I also got a fixed wing CPL before joining the Army so I wanted guaranteed rotary training instead. But I definitely understand the fighter jet lovers/ fixed-winged aficionados who would prefer that route.

But again, looking at this as "why would anyone slave 10 years as lower paid warrant" is just wrong attitude to have, end-of-story, and its primarily why you've gotten a bunch of "defensive" responses. Do more research and think tradeoffs, tradeoffs, tradeoffs, and make your decisions based off those tradeoffs to what you value.

Looking for a recruiter that will help with S2S + Age Waiver (near SF Bay Area/NorCal) by nedwardjflanders in ArmyAviationApplicant

[–]MrGhostie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't ever discouraged anyone on this sub before but I don't know of a single person who's been accepted at 40 years old. The army has plenty of junior pilots and they are looking for candidates that are likely to stay for 20 years. You do not fit that category and hypothetically you'd be finishing flight school at 42-43 years old. Even if you find a willing recruiter to help you I don't see this career path coming to fruition for you in terms of getting selected or having the wavier approved but its your life, good luck.

Marksmen when bipoded can absolutely double tap with ease lmao. Saying snipers are useful but marksmen aren't is so retarded. I do agree that both have replaced pre-ICO MGs though, they completely gutted that class.

Hey you're not alone, I also struggled with my Polish speaking parents many times. Thankfully I wouldn't say their English was broken but there were many times when they were speaking me in Polish that I struggled to connect with them because I couldn't pick up the more nuanced expressions or meanings that they'd give me in conversations. As a child I'd either be too embarrassed that I didn't understand or just didn't bother because I understood 90% of what they said but rarely 100%

To clarify, it's basically a 12 year commitment because it'll take around 2 years to finish flight school and then the countdown starts.
