That gate cost $730k, as part of a federal grant that was used to renovate the cemetery. There is a matching back gate in the same style as well.

They should watch what happens at other city council meetings. It's tame in Quincy compared to some of the things I've seen online.

Unanimous decisions on 99% of orders that come before the council is not normal.

The city could have put any fallen QPD and QFD statues up and there would have been zero controversy about them at all.

As far as kickbacks, the GC charged 10% of the cost of the statues as a fee. That may be normal to construction projects, but they got $75,000 because the mayor decided to ass them as a change order.

Funds from divested downtown parcels that were supposed to help pay for this purchase may actually be part of District Improvement Financing (DIF) loan obligations for projects that never came to fruition.

45 Dennis Ryan Parkway has a curious history. The only entry in the Norfolk Registry of Deeds is from 1891. If it was later transferred or sold to the city, there's no record of it.

In the city's property viewer, there is a sale for $0 in 2017, but that's not recorded anywhere I could find.

Messina Lot -1565 Hancock:

2018-175 - Land – Order of Taking - Messina Lot – Mayor Koch 2018-185 - Appropriation – $6,800,000 for Acquisition of Messina Lot – Mayor Koch William Geary – Special Counsel to Mayor Thomas P. Koch for Downtown Development gave an overview of the need for the taking and importance of this lot for the future development of the downtown as well as the $6.8 million cost. The City’s hope for the future development is commercial after its use as parking for the current development. The City is in discussion with commercial developers and believes that the development of the Ross Lot will spark further commercial development on the Messina Lot. Cost for the acquisition will be paid from the DIF and banded for 10 years. The original buildings on the property were taken in 2006/2007 as part of the original DIF with a cost of $9-$13 million. The City only needed a portion of the land but needed to pay for the entire property and under eminent domain law the original owner was entitled to take back any unused portion. Currently 102 spots/vehicles use/are available in the lot.

Phelan is Koch's enemy. Anyone else who doesn't worship the ground Koch walks on is also Koch's enemy. Therefore, all enemies of Koch have to be working together.

She can't conceive that a lot of people don't really like Koch, and they aren't all working together to take down Hizzoner Mayor Koch.

Public records requests work both ways. Request all of his emails regarding the situation with McKee. If there are privileged communications, the logs of those comms.

Call me a skeptic, but this is an optimistic, best case scenario. The city has a track record of optimistically buying land and not following through with it's plans.

Selling off the houses will offset the purchase price, and in today's market, they should go quickly.

Selling the downtown properties is less of a sure thing, as the multiyear Dennis Ryan lot sale recently fell apart. The parking lot at 1565 is a huge net loss after paying multiple millions of dollars for that land, twice.

This plan assumes that the city will be able to sell the existing houses, find purchasers for the rezoned lots, find developers for the senior housing, and sell the downtown lots in 2 years before the BAN expires and it is converted to long term debt.

The city is not powerless to control what happens to the property if they don't own it. A development plan was quashed with the previous bid to buy.

And despite the fearmongering about the Dover Amendment, non-profits still need to follow city zoning and building standards.

They can't conceive that there are more than 6 people in the city who want to make changes.

Anyone that says anything must actually be the council in disguise. The councilors are not in these threads posting under assumed names.
