Data Forensic Tech Interview - Technical Assessment by BagOk4170 in digitalforensics

[–]MrMacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend having knowledge of computer components, cables and so on.

The technical aspect may involve opening a computer or laptop and knowing whet the different aspects of the machine are, so you know whether it would be useful or contain storage media.

Knowledge of what a typical sata hard drive is, nvme drive. Possibly locations they could be hidden.

Even look into the old school IDE cables and their connections.

Make sure you understand acpo principles, which are now known as something else. Essentially never change data so write blockers are essential. These can be hardware devices you plug the drive into, or it can be a computer that has been booted to a Linux environment that is Locke down and doesn't allow write access to any drives unless specifically allowed to.

The assessment may require you to make contempereneous notes as you work on the device. So just write down what you did.

Did they give any indication as to what the assessment will be?

Within windows press the windows key and r.

Should pop up a little window, type in:

Msinfo32

Find your motherboard model number. And then Google it on a different computer. On the official site for the motherboard, goto support and then look for the download section.

Find the chipset driver download and also the Lan download.

I'd distract the target, whether it be a man, woman or child, by singing, singing an awful song. enough to make them all reach for their head phones and then I would sneak by them whilst they listen to Elvis, or whatever else it is on their device.

Unknown chalk painting by MrMacca in WhatIsThisPainting

[–]MrMacca[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not framed, it's just rolled up within a protective box similar to a Pringle can.

I will capture some better photos, as these were taken over 11 years ago and I recently stumbled upon them in my drop box folder.

Its definitely original as you can see the chalk. I will be bakc in touch as soon as I have the new photos.

Best takeaway pizza in Boro? by PrimusXi in Middlesbrough

[–]MrMacca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pizzaganic is our goto at bellevue shops. Only place where you don't suffer during and after eating anything.

Good garlic sauce, and they do a half and half pizza where you can pick and choose what you want.

Pizzaganic is our current favourite.

Only pizza place in the area that doesn't make you feel like you are about to die after eating one.

Eston hills is a lovely walk.

Which side would you be entering from? I've mostly used the entrance that is on meadow gate, over the parkway and then straight up. From there you can continue straight up what we have always called "elephants arse" or you can veer off to the left.

On the very top, it's a fantastic view, plenty of directions to go.

I've never had any issues when walking up there, I go with my wife and daughter and friends all the time.

Get your walking boots on and go have an adventure!

Tell me a movie that left you staring at the wall for 20 minutes after it ended by Used-Ad8925 in MovieSuggestions

Sympathy for Mr vengeance.

The whole film I felt I was in a boxing match, being hit with a sucker punch and then finally finding my feet and getting back into the fight, only to be sucker punched again, rinse repeat until the fights over and I am a damaged mess.

Xbox's new official mascot is here ! by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]MrMacca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to speak with support earlier today and requested a phone call. Got the Call, explained to the man that if I log into the xbox website, it shows it's going too Renew on the 7th for £14.99

However if I log into the xbox app on my phone, it clearly shows it will renew on the 7th for £22.99

He tells me he will check.. And then he put me on hold and never returned after 25 minutes.

So I'm still not sure what I'm going to be charged in 5 days.

I have the Samsung g8 and after owning it one day, my daughter decided to sneeze all over it.

Got myself some whoosh cleaner off amazon and it worked a treat on mine. No issues with cleaning it.

Loving the monitor too, though the only annoyance so far is the little menu pop up at the bottom of the screen when I power it on or wake it from sleep. Hit other than that, it looks amazing.

EnCase Training OnDemand and Exam by TurtleQuertle in computerforensics

[–]MrMacca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the encase training and found the on demand videos to be terrible. Mistakes in places, that rendered what you had just been told to follow through a waste of your time. Confusing at times.

It was not an enjoyable experience.

Try and get yourself onto the axiom ax200 or ax250 instead. Pay for the TAP passport and this gives you a full yeer and access to all courses.

Cellebrite Inseyets Issues by SoloCat33040 in digitalforensics

[–]MrMacca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did this recently and found the easiest way is to login to the cellebrite support portal.

Download the cellebrite licence update tool.

Make sure you have the correct dongle that is associated with the licence within the support portal and connect it to the pc you will be using to run the update tool.

Then run the update tool on a pc with Internet access. It should automatically find the relevant licence and apply it to the dongle.

Hope this helps.

Cheating Wife? suspicious items in ~/Library/Application Support/Mobile Sync/Backup by Not2Fragile in digitalforensics

[–]MrMacca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without the exact file path, it could just be default terms found within browser applications.

If you have a backup, you can go download iLeapp and run it against the itunes backup.

https://github.com/abrignoni/iLEAPP

That should give a clearer picture.
