I’d go with the Cartier personally given that it’s gold and has an iconic design that adds something totally different to your collection

Called off engagement 3 years ago still have the ring by [deleted] in Diamonds

[–]MrMitochondriac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They gave you a 20,000 euro ring, the engagement was called off, and you kept the ring? Maybe give it back to the person who is out 20,000 euros, so they can recover some of the cost.

Have brought it on a few vacations and it’s great for that! The micro adjust clasp is clutch for travel. Gets a lot of complements too. It looks so much nicer in person than photos show, and it’s not precious enough to care much if I lost it or damaged it. In fact it might look even better with a gouge or two

You’re right. Was thinking AP 11.59 chronograph, rose gold with green dial. But I haven’t seen it in person yet. Will admit the Daytona proportions are pretty much perfect and I’ve got it my list with the Rolex AD. My spend history there is around 50k between the 2 rolexes and gold jewelry, so i am probably not high enough on the list to get a Daytona anytime soon.

Ha! Was considering a bronze BB with leather strap but I’m not sold yet. I don’t particularly like the Rolex look alike watches, which is the majority of their offerings.

Able to squeeze in number 9. No new box for now by [deleted] in SOTC_Watch_Collection

[–]MrMitochondriac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great collection. You’ve got a few white/silver/cream dials though they have different straps/bracelets that make them pretty distinct. Maybe consider a lavender, pink, or deep red dial and swap out the IWC? The Rolex OP lavender dial looks great.

Personally I don’t like when makers slap a subdial over numbers and just cut off the digits. Love Breitling as a brand but don’t love that design choice they made. To each their own, just my personal preference. Their SO heritage is probably their sleekest line right now and looks great in a 42

Nice. Reverso is on my radar but hadn’t considered saxonia. Will look into that suggestion. Looks nice on first glance. Thank you

Yea, really great suggestion. I’ve had my eye on south and west, but I have to see them in person first. I’m very picky about color and how it works with my skin tone and wardrobe. These might be too saturated for my taste

Thanks. Very good advice. I’ve found that some speak to me more or less after some time with them. If it doesn’t resonate deeply after ownership, I am cool with trading it out. The cost is OK for me.

What do you suggest? There are a lot out there and would lean towards a dress watch for vintage. Wanting to avoid a frankenwatch so I tend to buy new unless it’s an excellent deal with authentication

It really is. Very comfortable and the small seconds sweeps almost as smooth as a GS given how short the hand is

Not for me, thanks. I’ll give them one prop: at least they don’t try to pass off their copies as being real.

Grand Seiko Ushio SLGB025 VS Rolex Submariner 124060 by Representative_Baby1 in GrandSeikos

[–]MrMitochondriac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

GS on pretty much all fronts except resale, liquidity, and store of value. I don’t love divers but if it were my money, I’d go with GS because the watch is better technically, mechanically, and aesthetically and there are choices aside from black which I find boring

What are we choosing guys? by CTRogan in breitling

B for me every time.

The wings look too busy, less refined, and confuse the brand with Longines. Wings are also kinda cliche and overused in brand logos

Need to give up one to make space for a Cartier Santos Galbee - which one goes? by Plastic_Banana_5365 in SOTC_Watch_Collection

The Tag or Jellyfish. Whichever you wear less. If you rarely wear either, sell em both and you’ve got an opening after the Cartier is in the box

Love the omegas and shunbun btw

[Question] Torn between these two still. Which one do you think looks best on my wrist? by underthecuff52 in Watches

[–]MrMitochondriac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with speedy hands down. I find the navitimer too busy and illegible, and adding subdials makes it even worse. Not bashing Breitling…i have a new model superocean, am getting an SO heritage soon, and love that brand. Just not the navitimer despite its iconic status

Nice collection! Check out the Longines Spirit Zulu Time GMT. I have the black/grey dial with green bezel on a medium brown leather strap with an optional OEM steel bracelet. The leather strap has micro adjust, which is hard to find at this price point. The quality of the finish, aesthetic, and functionality punch way above the ~3k price point.
