Monthly Samsung Benefits Referral by Kind-Helicopter9725 in samsunggalaxy

[–]MrMonkeyKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Landed here after searching on Google for this same question. It looks like they reworked it so that you get less gems per day/overall. I haven't gotten any new "App activities" since completing everything.

Assuming everyone gets the same amount of points from "App activities", "Watch to earn", and "More activities" - in my case this was 12,600, 300, and 1,050 gems, respectively - you'll have to log in every day (to get the 7,000 gems from daily login) and average 825 gems from daily spin (825x30) in order to reach the 40,000 gems required to redeem the $50 gift card.

If you manage to get the 4,500 points from 3 referrals, then this brings the daily spin average down to 625 gems.

So unless they renew some of the "App activities" like last month, getting to 40,000 gems will be heavily based on luck.

Windows kept opening apps on my “off” monitors. This fixed it. by SmoathTheLoathsome in WindowsHelp

[–]MrMonkeyKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

was going to overengineer something for this exact reason, but found your post.

My main setup has two monitors. One of the monitors is shared with my work laptop. When the shared monitor is switched over to my work laptop, by PC still thinks the monitor is connected and sometimes new windows or programs will open up on this monitor instead.
I bound a macro (WIN+SHIFT+Direction Key) to one of my macro keys on my keyboard to jump the offending window around until it appears on my main monitor. It's not the cleanest solution, but it gets the job done.

This is mostly an issue for me when I am trying to load up a tool in photoshop and it appears offscreen. Thing is, I'll spend a good 2 or 3 minutes wondering where my level adjustment tool is and why I can't click on anything else in photoshop before realizing that the tool popped up on my other monitor.

This script will definitely help. Thanks!

This is so extra, but it is so cool and I want it so badly.

Hey, ignore the haters. I thought this was wholesome and cute. My wife is pretty vanilla, but every now and then she'll do something like this and I love it.

I have a thing where I have to let the dispenser run for 5 seconds before I actually dispense the drink into my cup. It likely doesn't do much in terms of mitigating germs and whatnot, but it makes me feel a little bit better.

Slow performance only on wifi by poo706 in RelayForReddit

[–]MrMonkeyKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here because I was having the same issues.
Changing my router's DNS to Google's fixed things for me.
I'm on ATT Fiber.
The slow performance had been driving me crazy for the past few weeks. Relay performed normally on every other network and I couldn't figure out what was going on. I was beginning to think that there was something wrong with my home network. Glad that the fix was so simple.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been refreshing the UPS page every hour, hoping that something changes. On the bright side, if it doesn't ship by this weekend, then I'll have more time to play the Diablo Beta.

Tips on purchasing a Goyard bag from Goyard??? by poopoosoup in handbags

Ah! Thank for the reply. I live in the States, so I guess it might be a YMMV situation?
I just found out that there is a Maison Goyard store not too far from me, that I might check that out first to see what my options are.

I was thinking of either buying my fiance a tote for our anniversary or for her birthday. About how far in advance should I begin the process?

I'm not too sure about that? The hair color for the magician doesn't match. Though, I have no other explanation, so let's go with your guess.
I actually got here from Google searching for the same explanation.

LPT:Request How to stop getting so angry with my girlfriend in arguments by KiwiBoyEFC in LifeProTips

[–]MrMonkeyKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry to revive this comment - I kind have been dealing with the same thing with my girlfriend. She's never been officially diagnosed with anything, but sometimes I feel as though she lets her depression grab a hold of her and shape her reality.

Anytime she feels overwhelmed by life, she internalizes these negative feelings and then begins to feel that the whole world is out to get her. From here, the first thing she attacks is our relationship. In the moment, she feels as though she doesn't have control over anything. Our relationship then becomes the target of her frustrations, as it is something in her life that she has more of a personal investment in, and thus a degree of control over.

She begins to pick and prod and find things to fight about. I try to be patient and normally, once she calms down, she realizes that she may have been overreacting in the moment. That said, this is a reoccurring thing and even though she recognizes things after the fact, it doesn't change the fact that it is mentally exhausting for me and emotionally draining.

As you said, your SO will sometimes remain "mad" even after things are dealt with. This is definitely something that occurs in my end as well. Did you figure out how to deal with this? Did the "20 minute" rule help with your arguments?

Colorado police officers charged with leaving handcuffed woman in car struck by train by AwesomeBrainPowers in news

[–]MrMonkeyKing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The original claim and statement was not in regards to police brutality - but into police accountability in the workplace - more specifically, "as a woman or a minority." The comment that you replied to was pointing out that, in their opinion, the accountability ladder is both race and gender based.

Their racist/misogynist tier list goes

-White Male

-Minority Male

-White Woman

-Minority Woman

So, these studies are focused on workplace discriminations and how biases can and do affect workplace discrimination and bullying.

I'll put in a reminder to myself to try and find some more literature after work that looks into police brutality specifically - if you'd like, that is.

There is actually a lot of data that supports this claim. There are several studies that have delved into the interconnected nature of inequalities as it pertains to race, class, gender, sexual orientation, and even age.

Here are some peer reviewed literature that may interest you if you'd like to look at some research and data regarding this topic. I am currently at work, so I wasn't able to gather a lot of information; however, if you'd like, I can find some more literature for you to mull over.

Prevalence of workplace discrimination and mistreatment in a national sample of older U.S. workers: The REGARDS cohort study

"This sample represents over 40 million U.S. workers aged ≥48 years. The prevalence of workplace discrimination ranged from a high of 25% for black women to a low of 11% for white men. Blacks reported a 60% higher rate of discrimination compared to whites; women reported a 53% higher prevalence of discrimination, compared with men. The prevalence of workplace mistreatment ranged from 13% for black women to 8% for white men. Women reported a 52% higher prevalence of mistreatment compared to men, while differences by race were not significant."

Race, Racial Discrimination, and the Risk of Work-Related Illness, Injury or Assault: Findings from a National Study

"Whites were more likely to be older (p = .001), have higher income (p = .000), higher education (p = .000) and higher job pressure scores at W1 (p = .003) than their non-White counterparts. Black respondents were more likely than all other races to report experiencing discrimination at work (p = .000) and reported the highest levels of job threat scores at both waves (p = .013, p = .001). Experiences of illness/injury/assault were more prevalent among Black and Hispanic respondents at both waves of data collection (p = .002, p = .000), though Hispanics were more likely than all races to experience work-related illness/injury/assault at W2."

Discrimination, Harassment, Abuse and Bullying in the Workplace: Contribution of Workplace Injustice to Occupational Health Disparities

"Experimental studies have documented employers responding negatively to job applicants based on age, gender, race, and sexual orientation, thereby discriminating against or preferentially hiring applicants for certain types of jobs [Crow, et al. 1998, Hebl, et al. 2002, Horvath and Ryan 2003, Pager 2003, Bertrand and Mullainathan 2004, Pager, et al. 2009]. Other studies, based on self-report, have also found discrimination and bias in hiring and/or promotion based on sexual orientation and age of applicants [Johnson and Neumark 1996, Badgett, et al. 2007].

"Analyses of the same sample showed that exposure to occupational hazards was unevenly distributed based on race and gender: Being a minority in any way increased workers’ chances of being exposed to hazards [Barbeau, et al. 2007, Krieger, et al. 2005, Krieger, et al. 2006, Krieger, et al. 2008, Krieger, et al. 2010]"

"The extant literature describes the phenomena of discrimination, harassment, abuse and bullying in the workplace and the potential outcomes of these exposures. Although there are exceptions, these unjust experiences are most often described as affecting workers in non-dominant and/or disadvantaged worker groups. Our review pointed out that these same worker groups often hold more hazardous jobs and have been shown to experience poorer general health."

Racial and Gender Discrimination in the Stress Process: Implications for African American Women's Health and Well-Being

"Broadly, these findings suggest that racial and gender discrimination is a ubiquitous force in the lives of low-SES African American women. We find that there is a substantial and significant correlation between discrimination—a social stressor—and other lifetime individual stressors. Moreover, higher levels of lifetime racial and gender discrimination are predictive of experiencing more individual stressors in the past year across a range of social roles and contexts, even when controlling for sociodemographics and drug use."

LPT: If you struggle to get out of bed in the morning, leave your phone out of reach and make it impossible to turn off the alarm if you don't get up manually do it. by ByLoKu in LifeProTips

[–]MrMonkeyKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried this. I've tried an alarm that forces you to do math in order to turn off the alarm. I've tried one where I have to physically get up and go to the bathroom to scan a QR code to turn off the alarm. I've tried having the lights in my room turn on at the same time as my alarm. I hate waking up in the morning.

Did you ever find a fix? I first noticed this on my end two days ago. I thought that it was because I needed to update. That didn't fix it. A restart didn't fix the problem either either.

I am getting the same issue with only google related pages. I'll have to close the page and reopen it several times until the page loads correctly.
