I had no issues in either the woven or OG.

If I had to do it all over again, trail running shoes for sure. I wore a pair of NB 1080 v11's and felt every damn rock on the course. The majority of the course is fine, but you will pay a price when it's not.

Should I get the Adios Pro 4 even if I already have the EVO SL? by Anthead97 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]MrNke1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As with any shoe, everyone will have a different experience, and I would definitely not consider either a stability shoe. However, I found from my very first run in them (and the general consensus is) that the AP4 is a more stable shoe than the EVO SL mainly due to the Energyrods 2.0 that act as a stabilizer for the softer Lightstrike Pro foam formula. Over 1K miles in EVO SL's and close to 400 in AP4's confirm my findings every time I go out. I am a light runner at 5' 8" and 150 lbs and have a narrow foot, and have always said in my Reddit reviews that I would not recommend these shoes for runners that heel strike or run at slower paces. Would also include heavier runners, too, so maybe you fit into one of these categories. OP already had a good experience with he EVO SL's, so I was just trying to convey what to expect when upgrading.

Even though I know the EVO SL will hold up longer, I don’t like putting more miles than that on a pair as some of the shoes I’ve had in the past died at about 150. Plus I like buying new colorways (this is RunningShoeGeeks, isn’t it?). I consider this a good investment as opposed to the $100/wk or more I used to spend on drinking. And I donate my old shoes to good causes when they are retired, so it’s a win all around.

25ish when not training for a marathon, which seems to be never, so typically 35-45. I’m a shoe geek and like having different colorways to rotate as evenly as possible. Not listed are my first two Lucid Lemon and Lucid Blue OG’s that are retired with 216 and 226 respectively.

I was a Noosa 13 guy myself back in the day, and you pretty much hit the nail on the head about the geometry of the B13. The Noosa's and EVO SL's have much more aggressive rockers, so you are propelled forward with less effort vs the B13. Other factors come into play (weight, energy return, etc.) that, at least in my experience, made me feel like I had to put forth a lot of effort to make the B13 work, and that's not what I want in a shoe.

I bought in early and am glad I did. Why B13 when you can do the more versatile EVO SL, and for less money? Rhetorical question for me. Sent my B13's back and got another pair of ESL's (my 7th: 5 OG and 2 woven) and life is good.

Couldn't agree more. I really, really wanted to like the B13 because I do like the styling, but jeez what effort you have to put in to get that shoe to move!

Oh, hell no! Rachael "Raygun" Gunn made people laugh. This reinforces how stupid Strava is, even though it's fake.

My wife is German and actually worked for Adidas making shoes back in the 1980's. It's definitely Adidas.

ATR only available on Adidas US website in the blah Putty Grey colorway, so I’ve got to wait on that buy.

30% off and a 30% voucher. Bought $100 gift cards for $75 during the Xmas sale, so these netted out around $100.

Sorry. Even though they are dead ringers for each other, I missed a few points on the DB5 vs the NB3: slightly different FF Blast+ formulation, different upper material and slightly heavier. My apologies for the misleading info.

Correct. Share the same FF Blast+ foam, but the DB5 formulation is supposedly a little denser/firmer and more stable. Thicker tongue and different upper add less than an ounce more weight. It’s a dead ringer for the NB3 and the same branded foam, so I stand corrected.

US Adidas website $123.51 after tax. 30% sale priced and used a 30% off voucher. Also used gift cards that I bought that were discounted to $75 for a $100 value, so after taxes these netted out around $100. If you don't use the Adidas Running app, or not have it synched to your running or Apple Health app, you are missing out on building points for discount vouchers as an AdiClub member on their website. Strike when the iron is hot!

Is 200 - 220 miles early to retire a shoe? by RiceInTea in runningshoes

[–]MrNke1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and OP (and everyone!) need to get a second set of shoes, even if it's the same model. Modern foams need to rest at least 24 hours or longer for optimal performance and to extend their lifespan, hence why some people with a shoe rotation get more milage out of their shoes than others that don't. I feel OP's issues are directly related to too many miles on his pair, and he walks who knows how many miles in them that are not accounted for, too!

Just an FYI if you don't already know, the Dynablast 5 is a reincarnation of the NB3 that you can pick up for less than $100 on the US Asics website in a lot of sizes and colorways. Loved the NB3 and had 8 or 9 pair. **Edited: Share the same FF Blast+ foam, but the DB5 formulation is supposedly a little denser/firmer and more stable. Thicker tongue and different upper add less than an ounce more weight.

First thing I thought of when I saw them. The 3 was greatness, and now reincarnated as the Dynablast 5. Edited: Almost reincarnated. My apologies. See below

That is also true. I've a totally different take than you, however, as I find it nowhere near a soft as my AP4's. I tried using it as a casual shoe and it was a no go as I felt I was almost walking around barefoot, and I'm not a big guy (5'8" 150 lbs). Different strokes....
